Pippster Bridget's Journal, 16 July 2019

I'm back! I've been in post op recovery for the last 8 weeks and finally feel good again. I am ready to get back to eating right and hitting the gym. I went to the beach this past Sunday with my sister and her little girls and actually wore a 2 piece bathing suit for the first time in my adult life. I was at first uncomfortable with how I looked in it, then I changed my mind set and said I don't know any of these people on the beach and they certainly don't know the struggles I've had and overcome, they didn't know I lost 42 pounds this year. But, I did and that's what mattered to me, after that I had such a good time with my family.I blocked out all the negative thoughts about my body and am learning to be happy with my curves.
181.0 lb Lost so far: 1.0 lb.    Still to go: 31.0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

So glad you are feeling good now, and glad you are ready to eat healthy. I lost the weight I wanted with low carb and intermittent fasting. I found the IF much easier than Keto. Even though I couldn't keep the carbs under 20 or even 30, with the IF, averaging about 17 hours a day, I did lose. I had a scare last fall with "fuzzy brain" so want to switch from sugar burning to fat burning. My thinking became clearer, and it was amazing to me that my bladder stopped hurting from IC. For years, I would not have wanted to live without D-Mannose (over the counter) for the bladder pain, and now I'm not using it for about 4 or 5 months. I did give up more things than I ever have in my life, hoping it would be temporary. I don't yet know what I will be able to eat, and keep my brain clear. I had quite a few cherries today but was still under 1200 calories. My head is not as clear. I think age is a factor of not being able to eat as many sugar producing things as when I was younger. For several months I gave up desserts, bread, pasta, all grains, fruit, potatoes, rice, carrots, bananas, rice, and alcohol. I now want to have a little fruit this time of year, but am still concerned about my brain. Sugar/glucose is going to be a really big deal for you, since it feeds cancer. I'm not saying you still have any cancer, I just feel you will need to be more careful about it, for the rest of your life. Sorry you have had to go through this. It is life changing for you. But there is potential for you to have a long and full life, sans sugar/glucose. I'm sorry to say I feel very negative about diet drinks for you. They kill up to 50% of the friendly bacteria in your gut, and leaky gut will affect your heath profoundly. Have you ever watched Dr. Eric Berg on YouTube? My love goes to you. I hope I haven't been too strict, if so please forgive me.

I am glad you are feeling better and are back here. How brave and strong you are! I really admire your choice to be free and enjoy the beach without focusing on if you have the perfect weight for a two piece. You have lost so much this year you deserve that confident feeling! I noticed you have put in a lot of miles walking/running. I'm trying to walk/run/hike 40 miles a week. While I can, I'm enjoying summer before it rains all the time and going to a gym is more practical. Anyway, welcome back. I'm wishing you health and strength for your continuing journey!
