I am in the midst of doing the fat fast because I have been plateaued at 175 for 3 weeks...then I went out with friends and had some pizza...gained to 178. 2 days so far on the fat fast, and 4 pounds gone. I will post my new weight in the morning after 3 days. I will say, I have had one regular meal while doing this bc I just can't stand pb, cream cheese, and nuts after a while. Trying to keep my fat % at least 70 percent a day...I did the best on the first day with 86%. Perfect fat fast is 90% fat according to the book. And the rumors are true, after around the third day, you start having to make yourself eat. Something about the high fat content makes you not hungry. I will keep you posted if anyone is interested.

Interesting. I just got through a plateau but didn't try the Fat Fast. I'm going to read that chapter again! Congrats on your loss so far, keep it going!

Many people find that after a plateu a carb load meal will make them jump start the loss again after going back on track. It is hard to say if that is what happened. The reason why your appetite goes away is because there is no insulin in your blood stream. Insulin is what tells your body to store glucose and if you aren't consuming any, your body won't release it. Insulin is also the hormone that tells you you are hungry, but when in high ketosis and eating lots of fat you are bypassing what triggers insulin to be released. At the same time your body is burning fat for energy, including stored fat, that is why it is a modified "fast".
