I'm kinda floored at the consistent weight loss I've had since upping my calorie intake about two weeks ago. The best part is I really don't feel like I'm "dieting" anymore. I don't have the mindset of "you can't eat ANYTHING bad anymore," and instead if I'm having a craving for, say, movie popcorn, I'll satisfy it with a kiddie size (no butter, haha!) and realizing that these small, reasonable compromises really aren't going to derail me in the long run. Feeling good today!

The weight lifting routine I started is so much fun!! Can't wait to lose some of my excess arm fat so that people can see my progress, haha.
194.0 lb Lost so far: 61.0 lb.    Still to go: 34.0 lb.    Diet followed 100%.
losing 8.4 lb a week

Wow that is great. I cant tell you how free I felt when I learned of the small reasonable compromises that have allowed me to stay sane and keep on my healthy life style journey for 1.5 years now.. losing weight slowly but in a healthy way. Woot for learning how to live with food!

These are pretty awsome discoveries, aren't they? I just recently set some calorie goals, and started tracking every bite. Before I didn't eat much, but I drank a lot of Coca-Cola. I've only had about 2 12oz Cokes since last Saturday, and I started eating a healthy breakfast. Eating breakfast has just discouraged me in the past, because I would be hungry way before lunch time. Well, I found out from an RD that I was getting hungry earlier because my metabolism was speeding up. I am truly amazed, also, that you can eat more to lose more. I've been reading this little bit of info for some years now, but just could not believe it could be true, so never tried it. I started on my plan of eating 3 meals and 2 snacks a day and have lost over 7 pounds since June 30. Finally, I found the motivation I need and I feel I can live with my current way of eating, and hopefully be of some encouragement to others, as well! Best of luck to you, Rose and to you, too, Ceebee. ~ Sherri

Diet is such a bad word and worse it makes us feel like a failure, but when you switch to a healthy lifestyle and add exercise it promotes a more positive outlook. Everyone thinks you have to reduce your calorie intake to some unreasonable limit (under 1200) and exercise like a madman to loose weight. The truth is sensible eating and moderate exercise will do the trick and you do not have to give up your favorite foods just eat them in moderation. This sounds like the path you have chosen and are seeing great results. Congratulations

Thanks for the buddy request! I completely agree with you about the smaller portions of things you want. I think if you're planning on changing your "life style" then you SHOULD be able to enjoy ALL foods, but in moderation. If you don't allow yourself those little indulgences, you'll crack and spiral out of control. I think it's a wonderful approach to a new life style. And you have included daily exercise so you're on the right track!! Glad to be able to support you:) Tammy
