Hahaha....OK so I ate a late dinner last night and boom my weight goes up??? Lol. Not panicking...this is probably due to the density of the meal...calorie wise I did OK. the bottom line is that this is my new ceiling and 219.8 the new floor. Let's see how I do tomorrow and during the weekend. Same thing happened the last time I hit a mini goal...lol.

Morning Update:

I laughed when I saw the scale this morning. I knew that eating a late dinner would cause an issue. Now, I know what the root causes were...I had a hibachi style meal with chicken, lettuce and zucchini. The soy sauce has sodium, the ginger sauce also has a little sodium and I had two bottles of water with the meal. All that equals late night volume with a propensity to gain water weight due to the salty sauces. Now, is that actual weight, nope. Just my body reacting to a salty intake. I expect the numbers to keep going down as I eat better today, tomorrow and on the weekend. Either way, today's weight is the new ceiling...and yesterday was the new floor. As I push towards my next mini goal, the weigh loss will get tougher, I know that what is left of the body fat is old fat, that fat that has been with you the longest...when you hit those levels of fat then the body will really fight you on that weight loss. But guess what, I AM READY. Let's throw down...I am so tired of that fat...time to break through.

Thoughts for the day:

1) Manners - As I was in-between dosing off and awaiting my stop on the subway, I saw that this woman walked towards a young guy with a semi mo hawk and asked him to scoot over so she could take a seat. This young a-hole made pretend she wasn't even there...he didn't even scoot. The lady next to him got up and gave her a seat. This young piece of you know what could have accommodated her by moving about three inches and everyone would have had a seat. Why have manners disappeared? The breakdown of society starts in moments like that, where most people are civil, the worse part of society seeks to counter the politeness. If we are not civil, we start to move away from a society and go back towards a individualism that could tear the fabric of our country apart. All it takes is a nice act, that act can set forth a stream of nice acts with great consequences...pay it forward.

2) Keep it light - Given my dense meal for dinner, I have to say...pay attention to what you eat. The true indicator of whether that change in your weight may not be calories but may be the volume/density of what you eat. If what you eat weighs a pound, when you consume that meal, you will add a pound to your weight. When we evacuate, we lose bulk and liquid weight. Now, when you eat salty food you tend to absorb and retain more water...adding to your weight. So do not freak out after a large meal when you see a weight gain, as long as your caloric intake is less than your caloric expenditure, ultimately you will see a weight loss. Remember, the weight of what you eat may temporarily affect your weight loss...but don't be scared...as soon as you visit the bathroom, your body will regulate the effects..

3) The Time is Now - If you are looking in doing something different, there is no better time than now. Many times we hesitate or we give excuses as to why we don't do things we may need to do. Stop, take a breath, and say to yourself "Either I am going to do this or I am not. The time to decide is now." The longer you delay the longer the effects of what you decide take. Believe in yourself and make the call...you owe to your future to take action now..

I'm glad you can laugh about it! Really, there is so much fluctuation in fluids and other stuff in our bodies, I'm glad you are not worried about it. Almost every time I have consistent big losses daily, I'll have a bounce day where it goes back up a little. I was actually waiting to see if that was going to happen to you too. I meant to comment on what you said earlier about your daughter and the "twinkle." Remember this when she is 12 or 13 :-) It is so wonderful to have people in your life who love you unconditionally like a child does. It would be nice if it was your spouse who looked at you like that, and I wish I knew how people could get that back. You are heading towards being a skinny hottie, and if she can't see that, well...she should see the kind and passionate person you are. Keep taking care of yourself, I have a lot of respect for all of us who are working so hard to be the best we can be. The good stuff will come with that!

Thank you for your comments. The Twinkle commentary seems to have hit a nerve. I truly and wholeheartedly love my daughter...she and I are like Batman and Robin...we go everywhere together and she hugs me to no end. There is nothing I would not do for her. Yes, I know as she gets older she will become more of an individual and the huggy daddy time will grow less...but I have to enjoy this now. I expanded my journal entry....

Hey Buddy, I really liked your journal today and the positive upbeat optimism. Its refreshing. I also agree about what you said in regards to society and manners. Being here in L.A., I have seen an upwards trend in rudeness and general lack of regard. I was born and raised here and I'll tell you, 25/30 years ago, this was a different place - it was a great place to be born and raised. Now? I'm thinking not so much. Anyhow, I know what you mean too about eating a late, or a dense meal. It happens sometimes. On occasion I'll eat a serving of (salted) pistachios when I get the munchies late at night. Of course then I get thirsty. And then I wake up a little heavier than the day before - funny how that works! LOL. Anyhow, keep up the good work and writing interesting journals and have a great rest of the week and weekend. Just stick to the program ;) Signing off from partly-sunny-72-degree-southern California!

I really enjoy reading my buddies' journals and yours is no exception. Your manners section today made me think about what I saw on the train today coming home from work. It was a full train and one of the last few people to get on was a pregnant lady. She was standing by the door and would have stayed standing if it hadn't been for another lady that stood up and told her to take her seat. There was a man sitting in the seat next to her that was too busy looking at his phone to be bothered. What has happened to chivalry? I would like to think that my sons (who are men now) have more manners than that. Your weight chart looks awesome by the way!!! :)

Chivalry is not dead...at least not with me I would have offered my seat but there were at least two rows of people that she would have had to fight through to get the seat. Its crazy. We need a rebirth in manners and chivalry... Thanks to all who follow my journal. I appreciate the commentary and look to that commentary for ideas and comfort! Thanks!
