desifink's Journal, 03 June 2010

Finally weighed in after my 6 days off the Atkins wagon: up 3.2 pounds. I've been back on Induction since Tuesday, so I know there's not much (if any) water weight in that 3.2 pounds. Ugh. Was it worth it? The potato chips, french toast, oatmeal raisin cookies, mashed potatoes? How about the pasta salad and fried polenta and vodka sours? No - none of it was worth it. If I had stayed on track I'd likely be a few pounds under 200 by now. I felt so sluggish and miserable too, so I knew how crappy it made me feel. I need to remember this for the next time the Ritz crackers call my name. IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!!

Your right its just not worth it, at the time we think hell ya but to lose the same weight over and over is frustrating. We have to remember those are the same foods that brought us to this point why would we even consider eating them. Now that you have that out of your system you can let go of that and forge ahead...I sound like an old pioneer..lol. You know what I mean Desi, be good to yourself don't let those foods get to you...their bad bad bad. Embrace your bacon..lol. I am full of it today... :)

Thanks, Lenny - you're absolutely right. What outcome did I really expect to have with that pattern of eating? The thing that kills me is how easily the weight piles back on. Losing 3.2 pounds in six days is no easy feat, but apparently putting it back on is a piece of cake (literally!)

I think we have all been in your shoes at some point or another. Just think about the way you are feeling right now. Remember how awful you are feeling before you ever think of eating those things again. It's funny how we have emotional connections to certain foods but when we eat them we feel worse than ever. Stick with your goals and you'll have those added pounds right back off and more so.

I'm sorry you are feeling so bad but it helps me to know it definitely isn't worth cheating on my food plan.

Desi, I completely understand the siren's call of the foods that we so love to eat, but that hate our bodies. I am so sorry that you are feeling so icky, but if it helps you to stick to your WOE from here on out, perhaps that is what you needed. In the future when you are tempted by the wonderful golden, buttery crispness of that Ritz, remember that it may look innocent and luscious, but it is all an illusion. Once it hits your system it is poison to you. And it makes you feel like you've ingested poison. But now you've got that out of your system, and are back on track, so let it go, and don't look back. We cannot change the past, nor control the future, but we can take care of the here and now. You are going to get to your goal, even with the little speedbumps that get thrown into your pathway. :D

Thanks for all the support. I feel much better physically today - I'm back in ketosis and feel much less sluggish and bloated. I've worked out hard the last 3 days and that feels great too. Now just have to keep all this in mind the next time the carbs call my name and keep on going!
