FLOWERDUDE's Journal, 09 May 2010

wow... humbled.
It has been a doosie of a week... with the flooding and a major floral holiday.. I am beat.
But I was able to stay basically on program. And I am proud to say the scale showed it!

A couple of milestones..
1) I now have less than 100 lbs to goal weight.. oh. my. GOSHHHHHHHHHHHHH! dang dang ditty ditty... im a coo coo!

2) I am now in the teens... (of 300 lbs...but still in the teens) wow. just wow.

3) and ... more than 25 lb gone.

Hell yes... I still want to eat cake, bread, donuts, pasta and stuff. But I am on a mission, baby. I will eat those things again... but not as a staple of my diet and only once I get the pasta poisoning monster under my foot!

I am having a little difficulty distingushing the difference between full and satisfied. Does that make any sense? To me.. .there is "full" which seems at the top of my stomach...under my lungs. But my "satisfied" sensation is lower... in my gut... like behind my belly button. (ok...do i just sound like a whack job now?) And I can eat.. feel full...but not satisfied. I don't know... just something I am pondering...
316.0 lb Lost so far: 26.0 lb.    Still to go: 96.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Hey there, Flowerdude -- wow, I LOVE flowers!!! I try to buy them for my news office every other week and then make them last by changing the water several times and throwing out the bad ones. I also take a few buds and create little satellite arrangements in white espresso cups on my desk and the news table we all share. And I tend to photograph flowers around the city with my iPhone to look at while I commute. Love your avatar! About your post: congrats of course! but two things you say stand out to me. One is the comment about full vs. satisfied. Yes, I know what you mean exactly. I tend not to eat until I'm full, but of course there have been times in my life when I've done so, and yes, it is up under your lungs that you feel it. For me, it would happen if I ate foods prepared with sugar or flour -- like a couple of soft tacos -- and beer. That combo was lethal for me because of the wheat, and yet while I was eating, it didn't kick in that I was getting full. Usually around an hour later I felt like dying. Ugh. The other feeling I get daily, after I have breakfast, which I try to really balance as far as fats, protein, and carbs. The way I know I'm satisfied is really because I know what amounts work for me -- but then after breakfast I feel fine, and FORGET about food completely until around 12:30 or 1, when suddenly I realize, "Hey, it's already time for lunch!" The other comment of yours that stands out for me: the one about still wanting bread, donuts, etc. I've never really been a bread person (always preferred pie to cake and hated the crust, ice cream instead of cookies, lettuce instead of pasta) but the sentiment of determination and the daily battle reminds me of a website I read recently by an Atkins dieter. She talks about her daily battle. She's a sweetie too, putting her whole story online, and while her lifestyle is different from mine in many ways, it's nice to read of her success and get inspiration from her story. Plus she's adorable and has a fun writing style. Here's the link: http://www.sugarfreesheila.com/ Anyway, congrats on your good work! Keep it up!

I understand what you mean about the full and satisfied feeling. The biggest thing for me is I don't have a strong desire to snack anymore. When I was carboloading, I was snacking all the time. Meals seem to be more satisfying but if I ate til I felt full, I would have consumed alot. keep up the good work. keep up the good work.
