sjojos89's Journal, 19 June 2012

Haven't been tracking my food as well as in the beginning. It gets kind of complicated, but I keep track and portion pretty good so I'm not worried about it. I've been to the gym the past 2 days and last Thursday. Before then I had skipped like 2 weeks due to the move and adjusting. I did go on a few walks but nothing compared to what I do at the gym. My bf discovered the most amazing food I have ever tasted..."gooey buttercake cookies." They melt in you mouth, so moist lol. Sorry I had a moment. I've been limiting myself to 2 a day. I am going to be purchasing a basic alarm system through Safemart for my house today probably on my lunch. But for now, I have George Alarm Stickers on my windows and a sign in my front yard. Hopefully that is enough to deter robbers. If not, I have renters insurance and I can only hope that I am not home lol. I will be mailing my FOID card application in the mail today. I went and got the pic for it at Walgreens last night before the gym. I've been told that no matter what pic you send in they always use your license photo and it takes forever to get it. My friend has been waiting months for hers. That's all for today, have a good one :)

Glad you are back! Hope your alarm system helps deter the troublemakers and gives you some peace of mind!

Have an action plan in your head for the possible escape routes in your apartment and also think about items that are scattered about that could be used as possible weapons. I keep a maglight by my bed. It sucks to have to imagine being attacked, but if you ever are you can be a little more prepared. Always go for the family jewels!

wow. i can't imagine living in a place where you need weapons and security systems. the door on parents house has NEVER been locked. I don't even think we have one. True, it is a ranch house on the rez 30 miles from the nearest town...But heck most of my friends' parents homes around here too aren't locked. Guys leave their diesel trucks idling in parking lots of gas stations and grocery stores. Love the small town midwest trusting & honest folks!

So happy you're all moved in! Maybe keep a baseball bat or something next to/under your bed, just in case? Gooey buttercake cookies? oooo those sound good... But great self control :)

Thx Lindsay, I have wasp spray by my bed- it is far worse than mace and if it gets in your eye you have to go to the ER. I try to talk to the bf about it but it puts him in a bad mood, but I just want to be prepared. Let's hope I never have to worry bout it, but I'm a strong girl and won't hesitate to put up a fight...UNLESS he has a gun lol then I will let him take whatever he wants.

An alarm system does make you feel better. If I am home alone and the dog is acting weird. Alarm ON! Or if I have a nightmare. Alarm ON! LOL
