Man, it's hard to get back into the swing of things! Rolled out of bed a little before 4:00 this morning. Took it outside for a 2 1/4 mile run. It was about 40 degrees and foggy - wasn't bad for running, but I just wasn't feeling it. Had intended to run at least 3 1/2 miles, but I just didn't feel like pushing it. I've got a new heart rate monitor arriving via UPS tomorrow; maybe that will restore some of my motivation. The treadmill HR monitor strap works fine, but my old Polar HR monitor watch gave up the ghost a while back. I think it just needs batteries for both the strap and the watch; and wouldn't you know it, I've got the only one that requires you to send it in for service to get the batteries replaced - for 1/2 the cost of a new one. So, I ordered a new one, and I'll probably try my hand at replacing the batteries in the old one myself anyway.
It's supposed to get up around 80F tomorrow. I won't run tomorrow, but I'll probably work out on the elliptical or the stationary bike. Now that I've got the welding outfit, I'll have my universal gym fixed pretty soon, and I can start to do some strength training, and get pumped.
We're still waiting to find out whether the oncologist is going to require my wife to go through chemotherapy or not. Apparently, it is going to be decided by a bone density test. We are praying that she doesn't have to go through that; the radiation treatments are going to be demanding enough.
On a lighter note, the weekend was nice enough that I terrorized the neighborhood with my motorcycle. I've got a converted trike and an old Sportster. Both of them have straight pipes, and they make a lot of noise. I rode one Saturday and then the other on Sunday for about 30 minutes each - just to blow the cobwebs out. Can't wait to go on a full day excursion. Won't be long. The rider is going to be a little smaller this year than he was last year. :)

Dairy king... It surprises me, that even seasoned runners, like yourself, struggle sometimes. I know that is probably a 'silly' thing to say - but sometimes you feel, that you are the only one who struggles. So it gives me hope :-). Fingers crossed for your wife x

Never fear, Sk1nny; you are not alone. We all have our days. The amount of sleep we get, the food we eat, the stress of daily life - it all has an impact on our performance and our enthusiasm. Some are affected more than others. Some are just the opposite - they are addicted to the running, so the other things or persons have to take the back seat. But, for most of us, there's a battleground in the mind that continuously wars between the benefits of commitment and sacrifice, and the cost of lethargy. Hopefully, we win more battles than we lose.

:-) thanks DK.... I have put a post in your Moderation motivation group about 'oldies' and exercising. Maybe I am just "feeling" it today LOL
