Earthlady's Journal, 06 February 2012

Back to work today. It was OK but school was very cold after being closed for two weeks and it's taken me a while to warm up since I got home nearly two hours ago.

Decided not to go to the gym today because I'm really tired after the travelling and first day back; also it's so cold I don't want to go out again! Wimpy, I know :(

900 gr down so a new low this morning, weird really! I'll be very happy if that holds to the end of the week. I've eaten well today and stayed well within RDI, as I did yesterday.

I'm off to make a start on the ironing mountain before I fall asleep!

I'm thinking more and more about this, what is it kingkeld calls it? splurge day? or indulgence day? Have also heard it called the Spike Diet? (I think)...ANYway!!! Let's see, I'm not really up on my metric system (you know how Americans are, lol), but isn't 1000 grams equal to 1 kilogram? So, since you got back to Turkey, you've lost almost a kilogram, which is 2.2 pounds, of course, and has more meaning for me ;) Ok, so my point is: there must be something to this "indulgence day" diet (or whatever we're going to call it) in that you "splurged" (kinda) while you were on vacation, but when you got back to business, you immediately dropped weight. I have also noticed lately that, despite eating a little bit more than I had been, I'm still gradually losing weight. (I only post my foods on my phone, I think because I find that some of what I eat would sound so weird to most people...I'm more of a "grazer" than a "sit-down-to-a-meal-eater"). One more tidbit: my sister has been on a (very successful) diet she got from a book, "The 17 Day Diet", and from what she described to me, it calls for a similar eating plan that kingkeld describes (more detailed, but similar in type as far as shaking things up (dietarily speaking) which is supposed to fool your metabolism into letting go of excess poundage... so, what I'm saying is, this is definitely "food for thought". Hmmmm.....what do you think, "Earthygirl"? (I changed your name, as is my wont...lol.)

I like the 'girl' part :) I'm inclined to agree with you about the splurge or indulgence idea, I think especially if you keep up the exercise during days or longer periods of indulgence. Personally i've found before that prolonged periods on a very rigid eating plan eventually leads to minimal loss, if it doesn't lead to boredom first. I have to say I didn't expect quite such a good result at the end of my holiday as I averaged about 500 cal over RDI every day, but on the other hand I still kept the exercise up so there was a deficit most days. I fully intend to 'mix it up' on a regular basis in future - it's far more enjoyable than deprivation and probably a better bet in the long run.
