Carb Tracker for Gina's Journal, 05 April 2017

Okay.... an almost insurmountable obstacle to my LMP. I was really enjoying my world of fats, but this week the dr wanted to start me on statins because my caratoid arteriod shows blockage, AND my LDL was through the roof!
Of course, he didn't care that my Triglycerides were great and my HDL was a NEGATIVE factor.... sheesh.
He insists that the lipid level have to come down. SOOOOO I'm waiting a month. Trying to seriuosly reduce the amount of saturated fat in my diet, and see if that makes a difference BEFORE i start shoving statins in my healthy body.
One of the major side effects of statins is muscle weakness. How does that help exercise in a 62 (tomorrow) year old?
There HAS to be a better way. I love Atkins, because it's always been easy for me. IT DID ITS JOB! It eliminated the encroaching high blood pressure and my AIC levels..... the question now is...I love to eat!! Can I HONESTLY permanently reduce the satfats in my diet significantly enough to eliminate the need for statins? Well, I'm about to give it the absolutely best effort I have.
Maybe it will, maybe it won't, but at least I will have attempted it.
Most of my diet is satfats though, so it won't be instantaneous or easy... here goes.. I have 28 days to impact the numbers.

You can do this Gina. They say you are what you eat so as you go, you'll start seeing some lower fat versions that you can work in. I wish you well and hope you're able to avoid the chemicals.

My integrative medicine doc said that the elevated LDL was not of concern to him because it reflect a change in density of the particles. There are two types - light and fluffy and dense. Please look it up, as I don't want to impart the wrong info here, but further testing to differentiate the type of LDL might show that you are fine. This is typical with Keto, but not all doctors know about it.
