So proud of myself. After working 9 hours yesterday, then cutting and coloring a friend of mine's hair, I went to the gym and worked out full blast hard. I ran on the elliptical for a full 25 minutes. Sweat was just dripping off me. I'm used to only doing a 10 minute warm-up on the elliptical, but I pushed through. Immediately after that I walked for 35 minutes on the treadmill at a steady pace of 3.5 mph. Yes, thats right... a full hour of just cardio!!! I followed that up with about 30 more minutes on the machines paying attention to my arms, sholders, and thighs.

I was so proud of myself! I am going to go back to the gym tonight and work out equally as hard; an hour of cardio, then ill work on the machines but today pay attention to my glutes and abs. It is my goal to work out everyday for the rest of this week (yes, I know its thursday...but hey! its good to have a goal set).

Because I lose motivation very easily and usually would rather just sacrifice food instead of exercising, I've decided that if I eat healthy 100% and workout for an hour and a half today, tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday. I'll take monday off and get a pedicure after work. Then Tuesday-Sunday next week I will set the same goal of working out and eating healthy, and I'll think of some other reward for monday evening later.

I hope this helps me keep on track. Anyone have any other suggestions of different ways to keep from losing motivation?

As someone who has zero motivation, giving yourself little rewards like that seems like a great idea. Thanks for posting this. You've given me some motivation to do this for myself. =)

Sarah you are doing wonderfully! Just reading your journal entry gave me motivation! lol Looking at pictures seems to keep me motivated, I am the "photo joe" in our family so I have pics of every event. When I see myself at my heaviest I want to get my butt to the gym. hahaha! Keep it up, it is SO worth it.

One thing that I think to myself is... When you are only dieting, and not exercising, you are just waiting for the weight to lose itself. But, when you are actively working out, YOU are making the weight come off. When you are working out, just remember that you are working to lose one more pound. After you workout, especially when you lift weights, you will start to see and feel changes in your body that you won't want to give up, and that will keep you motivated to keep doing it. One more thing, there are always going to be days that you don't want to do it, or you won't want to go as hard. Try to do what you feel like doing, even if its not much, anything is better than nothing, and change it up, try all different kinds of workouts, find the ones you love to do! If you keep going, it gets easier and you will keep pushing yourself harder and harder! I was never the type of girl that loved to workout, but I have been doing it for 7 months now, and I love it, and I miss it when I take little breaks, and I feel better now than I ever have in my life because of it.

That is fantastic!!!! Congrats on pushing through on the elliptical!! I'm not sure what your exact workout schedule is but if you arent used to doing that much daily don't overdue it. If you're feeling good after this week and want to go for it again next week try messing with the settings on both the elliptical and the treadmill. Change is key. I alternate settings from "weight loss" "hill interval" "interval" "strength" etc. depending. It will help keep your body guessing. But mostly I would stress not to do too much too fast or just add a rest day in between!
