BuffyBear's Journal, 16 January 2012

Changes:
I had a chance to read some of your journals over the weekend and appreciate that I am not the only one doing some revaluation.

As for food:
Last fall I started adding more and more "healthy" carbs and got into the habit of eating this way. So, I know what I can eat to keep me in maintenance - which would be great if I was at my maintenance weight. Of course, I am not! So I've got to stop eating this way - have to lower the carbs.

As for exercise:
Exercise is my New Year's Resolution and I have not given up on it yet - I'm just a long way off from most of you so please be patient with me.

As for my appearance:
This winter I've let myself get down right shabby. Even though I can't really afford it I'm going to start getting my nails done again (these stubs do not look professional). Have hair appointment next week.

So this is my plan for the rest of January. I expect to see some results by Valentines Day!

Keep on keepin' on. If your hair is cut well and (in most cases for women your age dyed - you won't look shabby at all). My life is different now too I just seem so busy now. Hope you have a great Monday...

Bren - I feel guilty about my nails, but my natural nails are so soft that I can't even grow them to the ends of my fingers. Am going to get the Pink and Whites (go big or go home).

You certainly won't look shabby for your Valentine when you get all groomed & spiffed up. That's what we all need to do. Revamp our game plans and hit 2012 head on!! I love it!! I would love to get my nails done too. I will just start doing them myself! It always helps me with my weight loss for some reason. It makes me more self-aware, I guess. Go for the gusto!!! (((HUGS!!!)))

Hey Buffy! You will look fabulous - I am also due for a trip to my hairdresser - had a trim last month but the hilites need to be done. Carbs are a big deal for me too, so I am also making some dietary changes. Please take a pic of your new doo and share it with us!

Good for you Buffy...we all deserve to feel pretty and pampered. I am sure you don't look shabby, but a new hair cut and color does do a great deal for a girl's self esteem! Have a great day, and I sure would love to see a pic of the new do!

I can't imagine you could ever look "shabby." You can feel shabby though and a good polish and shine should fix you right up. I had to drop protein in favor of complex carbs due to my kidneys, so I have a weird sort of balancing act the other direction. You'll work it out. I have faith in you. Hugs!!!

If you can find a School of Cosmetology close by, you might just be able to schedule a manicure for a reduced price! Like you, I want to be able to eat like I'm in Maintenance....but, alas, not just yet. So, we can both buck up and make the changes we need to make until we get there. Good luck to us both!!!!!

Mom2boxers - You are right - if we first "become aware" of our nails, etc. then we can move on to becoming aware of our bulges.

AuntieJan - Great to hear from you. Good luck making adjustments to your diet - sometimes just a little tweaking helps.

Stef - Am hoping to lose 10 pounds before the next picture gets taken.

Johanne - You are smart to do what is right for you. I can lose weight eating low glycemic carbs, if only I could master - PORTION CONTROL!

Sandy - You don't know how often I think of your Journal on Complacency. We can never become complacent. I like your phrase "Bucking Up" - nothing worthwhile is ever easy.
