DairyKing's Journal, 06 January 2012

Up at 4:30 this morning and running with Jillian. Down only 1.5 lbs. since last weigh-in almost two weeks ago. But hey, I'll take it. I was not a good boy over the holidays. With the exception of the 5K race last weekend, I pretty much threw off the restraints, and went with the spirit of the season (not that I recommend that necessarily, but I'm a sucker for extravagance rewarded by pain). I am one of the 1% of Americans who enjoy fruitcake; and I ate one. I also received a box of chocolate covered blueberries for Christmas. it's usually chocolate covered cherries; so curiosity got the best of me, and if it hadn't been for my daughter eating a couple of them, I could lay claim to eating the whole box. And then there was the spice drops, the shortbread cookies, the nuts, and the cinnamon roles at my Granddaughter's house on Christmas morning. Need I go on? I came, I saw, I ate, I overindulged, and I enjoyed it - knowing that all good things have to come to an end, and they did. I got back on track, and have returned to some semblance of discipline and normalcy.

Awesome!

I think we can all lay claim to our share of guilty pleasures over the holidays. I still have a few truffles left of the box that I've eating way to many of- the goal is to work the rest in 1 or 2 at a time (since they're 50 cals each). Way to get up and get your workout in this morning! Sounds like you've got your groove back.

Hey... At least you are back on track.... In the past you probably continued with the indulgences - that's the difference :-)

I gotta know...how were the chocolate covered blueberris? Must have been delish, but it sounds like a strange combination...

It was kind of strange. I've always been partial to the chocolate covered cherries with the 'liquid' centers. These had the creamy centers. Even though the blueberries are rather large (as blueberries go) the chocolate actually overpowers the blueberries so the taste of the blueberries is kind of nonexistent. Stick with the cherries. :D
