Life is returning to "normal" after vacation...I struggled with some issues and am ironing out some problems. Food wise, I have not obsessed about anything and am trying to eat a well rounded diet. I have succeeded before on calorie counting and am wise to getting enough protein and good fats and limiting certain carbs. But i think for me, and maybe most of us...there should be no forbidden foods...that seems to set you up for failure...yet I totally understand some folks have trigger foods that make them go off on a bender...I think we just need to find out what works for each of us. What a journey we are on... I think we learn a little bit more about ourselves everyday and I think we learn a lot from each other. Thanks for being there!

Big day today...My grand daughter Lily, is 10 today! Going out for sushi tonight!

If you haven't already looked into it, check out the 5:2 or "Fast Diet." On that you have 2 days a week where you eat very low calories, and the rest of the time there are no forbidden foods. It can really break up that mental game where the forbidden becomes more attractive and we overdo because we know we have to go back on the diet and forego this food item.

I believe that the only way to lose weight is to count the calories - both eaten and exercised. Everything else is just mumbo-jumbo. There are no forbidden foods. Eat whatever you want whenever you want, only control how much. I think people forget that calorie counting includes counting exercise calories. If I want to eat more, I can balance that with exercising more. Just as long as the net of food minus exercise is a negative number, I will be losing weight.
