RiverRes's Journal, 05 May 2016

I didn't sleep very well last night - I wanted to and needed to - but it just didn't happen. Maybe it was because I went through my closet last night. I got rid of things I just don't wear. I also went through the clothes I have been hanging onto saying "someday, I will fit back into these." I can't believe how much money I have spent buying clothes as I put weight back on that I had already lost. So very sad. It would have been sooo much easier just to focus on losing weight before it got out of hand.

Back on the right path now. I just need to keep going. I am definitely the tortoise in this race, but at least I am moving in the right direction!

Oh, I do the same thing and have felt the same way! Then I read Marie Kondo's book on organizing - a lot of which is eliminating the excess - hmmm just like dieting. So, what she said that made me feel better is that sometimes a purchase has completed its purpose in your life just through the thrill you got when buying it. I just love how kind and gentle that philosophy is! Many of her clients have clothes and accessories that still have the tags on. So she says thank the items you are getting rid of for their service to you and let them go. No guilt. Who knows, maybe those clothes have helped keep in mind a more ideal figure for yourself.

I need to go through my closet. Each season I switch clothes out and I feel disappointed because I had hoped the clothes from last year would be too big. It looks like another summer in size 16. Here's to hoping when I put away the cold weather clothes they will be too big when I get them out again next fall! Good luck - from one tortoise to another.

I'm determined to keep wearing my ratty old fat clothes until I reach the 30 pounds lost mark. I do have one storage box with too small clothes in it. It includes two brand new pairs of jeans that I ordered online that I could not button, cute shorts, and a few too tight blouses that I got as gifts. I might open that box at the 20 pound mark. Hopefully it will be this summer when that happens.
