A day without power = a good day for a diet. Warm food is a blessing. Love it. I ate conciously and also read quite a bit of my "Thinner this year" book. Not much activity (other than scooping snow), but I did catch up on sleep. Blissful, wonderful sleep. I need to remember that Red Robin has a great low calorie dish - the Ensenada chicken. Two grilled chicken breasts and a side salad. Perfect. Under 400 calories. Great protein.

Scale says down 4 pounds. I won't record it just yet - I want to go for weekly weigh ins so as not to stress over the daily loss/gain readings later in the process. I will try to weigh myself every day - it is a good habit and fosters accountability.

I took measurements this morning as well. Damned depressing. Talk about apple shape! There is less than three inches difference in my chest, waist, and hip measurements. Depressing now, but later it will really help to get me through those weeks where the scale doesn't move.

I am all set for today, but I will need to shop tomorrow for this weekend. Just got a notice that my infrared cooker is delayed due to the weather. Tomorrow I will go to Costco. I will get eggs for Saturday as well as for the pancake breakfast scheduled for the 31st. Also need to get bacon and sausage a plenty, too. For me, I will focus on getting lean meat cuts, some veggies, and things like that.

Great job this week so far. I really feel the "paradigm shift" again this time. Previous attempts have been peppered with doubt and lack of total commitment. I think letting go of alcohol is key. Just thinking of the calories consumed (up to 300 per margarita), and not having anything to show for it is alarming.

Anyway - keep it up!
