Happy Sunday to all of us dedicated FatSecret fans. I am noticing a pattern of more calories during the weekend, and yesterday was no exception. I was a bit shocked when my wife, knowing that I'm watching calories, but not realizing my nearing obsession, gives me a belated Valentine's box of candy. I mean WT----! I couldn't believe it. Keep the faith FatSecret community! This dieting isn't easy!!!

Warren's Diet Tip of the Day: It is called,"Eat Stop Eat" or it's real name is "Intermittent Fasting". Nothing drops weight faster, so says my diet. But remember, this is an ADVANCED tactic. It is a tactic, that is gradual, and involves the spacing of longer times before eating. Google it if interested, and there are good authorites in our community. Have a wonderful day!

Ouch, you should take it to a senior home for a treat for them. You would make their day. I'm thinking about adopting a senior that has no family. Someone that needs visitors even if I only went a couple times a month it might cheer them up. Both my parents were killed in an auto accident when I was in my early thirties. So it would be good for me to.

Addie, that is a wonderful idea. I at one time, would dress up as Santa Claus, and give gifts to elderly, and disabled in Rest Homes in our area. I was amazed at what I saw. Not only old, but mentally disabled young people too. It was an extremely rewarding experience.

Dear Addie, This is my first posting a comment, when I read yours it really touched me...and I wanted you know just how meaningful it would be to that person and YOU. My patients are gone too. And I am retired . Three years ago I started volunteering at a local nursing home and developed a friendship with an elderly lady, and on many occasions I have told her how much she has helped me and I was suppose to be helping her, she gets such a delight knowing that she is important to someone and her life have some meaning.. So please DO IT , because honestly it is so rewarding on both sides..and there are some many elderly folks that would love to have someone come to visit and you also learn much from them too, once you listen to their lives and how once they were young too and the contribution they made to their community etc. Once you decide on Nursing Home contact Volunteering Dept. they are wonderful for matching you with someone. Sorry, for being so long winded but, I find it so rewarding and I hope you will too. Best of Luck with being matched with someone as special has mine.

I've noticed the same thing on the weekends with my Sunday and Monday weigh ins. The work week schedule seems to work with diets (forced limits on time for eating). My goal this weekend was to weigh in on Monday lower than Friday. We'll see how it goes. There never seems to be an end to the obstacles that present themselves. But that's ok. They just build better character, more endurance, and greater awareness of our need to stay focused on the goal!

Control, that is great, that you had such a rewarding relationship in doing volunteer time. My primary volunteer contribution is donating blood, as I discovered, that my blood is rare, in that it can save babies lives, as most blood has antigens usually carried by women. I was told that not one woman, that donated there, had antigen free blood. So I am on a schedule to donate every 45 days or so, as my blood is critically needed.

That's a great goal Rk! I will try and do that too, but I think keeping things stable on weekends, and getting very serious during the week, will be a good start.

@Warren, that is so great! I was an Rh baby, back when that was a thing before the prenatal treatment was developed, and came thisclose to a full-body transfusion, with consent paperwork already completed. I didn't think about it, what with being a sick preemie at the time, but I guess it would have been someone like you who would have been stepping up to save me. I can't thank him, but thanks to you for doing that for babies!

Well Kp, the greatest reward in life is to think you could save someone's else's life. I thought it interesting, that women pick up this antigen generally during pregnancy. They test my blood each time to find if I am antigen free. It could actually change, if my blood was to pick up an antigen. It is rewarding now that the Red Cross sometimes tracks your donation, and tells a story behind your donation.

I looked at that site! That's what got me to do the 24hour fast then the IFs. I really liked what he had to say and they way he said it.

Misty, I think it really works, and if you can normalize on it, you will love the results. When I googled IF, they showed 5 different techniques for it. I like just eating dinner, and cheating here and there.

I eat at 12 and 6 during the week. I did the 24 hour fast Monday night to Tuesday night I'm going with that routine for now. I'm feeling really great :-)

That's great!

Warren. This is one reason why I picked Sunday as one of my fast days or half fast days. Not eating until the evening meal is almost a guarantee of staying on track even though I'm home for the whole day. Monday off isn't quite as bad as I have things I can do around town. Weekends are my problem too.

I do 16:8 every day...means 16 hours without food and and 8 hour eating window.

I like both of your ideas of IF. My problem is getting my wife on the same page. She is very controlling, and I'm easy going. She likes to choose what we eat, and I eat anything. lol I can fast until dinner during the week.
