I haven't weighed myself for a few days but I seem to go up and down without really achieving much. So I thought I'd try something new. I'm in the middle of reading a book about sugar. It's one of the few that doesn't seem to have an ulterior motive (e.g. product line to sell). I've decided to cut out sugar and nothing else. If it can believed I should drop some weight. Time will tell.........

I joined a Norwegian weight loss website a few years back, it was really good and very helpful. The main motto is 'You can eat what you like, just not all the time'. My son is really fitness focused, with lots of weightlifting etc, and focus on what he eats. He's got a cheat day a week, and man the thing and amounts he's eating is crazy. I'm know we probably cannot compare to what we're doing, but the thing is, sometimes we're allowed to 'cheat'. As long as it's just once in a while, and maybe with a bit of added exercise. It cannot be all that bad or wrong me thinks...

That's very true. 80/20 is a realistic guideline anyone can follow.....

@Mayhem - yep, its all about balance. Nobody can be perfect all of the time! @Samm72 - I like 80/20 too... BUT... if you can't trust yourself (I am in that camp) then I go more for a 95/5 ratio when I am trying to lose weight and 80/20 when I am maintaining weight. Also - sugar - yep if you can rid of it, you'll get a new lease of life! I only eat sugar on the odd occasion and once its out of the body it tastes artificial and very often horrid so easy to resist once you've got rid of it to start with. I'd say, give it a whirl!

KellyM25 - It doesn't look too difficult. Obviously fruit doesn't matter because of the fibre that's in it. But sugar is put into so much stuff. Even if I tried for 100% I think I'd only hit 80% at best. I'm just avoiding processed food and putting more of a "savoury" slant on what I eat.

As long as you have less cheat days than good days you will be fine. I strongly believe that mixing up the calorie intake keeps your body guessing and is good for you.
