Gastro Patient's Journal, 19 November 2015

I stumbled on this website today. It's a week and two days since I got the diagnosis of gastroparesis. Have been reading madly online since then.

After the doctor's phone call I cut out all raw veg and fruit immediately. Hard, when there are 4 boxes of apples in the garage that Steve was given for helping at the Stillwater orchard. And there's all that broccoli and brussels sprouts in the garden awaiting the final picking. As I look back on all the raw apples we've eaten in the last 3 months I see why my gut was unhappy.

Have been eating applesauce--I can see that this is going to be tedious. Have had some good chiabata bread, with jelly.

I now understand the craving for sweets. Got a diabetes glucose test. 79 is score so I'm not diabetic. But the glucose swings in the digestion are probably the reason for my hunger for sweets.

I'm feeling pretty good, not having experienced interrupted sleep except for dreams, for a while. No major pain since three days ago when Steve returned from deer camp and cooked a big dinner and I probably ate too much. We had red wine, pasta, my tomato sauce, pheasant, little chunks of cauliflower. The day after, I think I felt just a little bummed and took all the Ranitidene I am allowed. That much I remember.

Am going to figure out this fat thing today. How many eggs, how much butter, how much saute fat I'm allowed.
