Happy Saturday! I need this day to regroup, plan menus and (dread) grocery shopping. Lack of rain and heat have stilted my garden and I'm really missing all my fresh veggies. Dragged the hose down last night but I'm afraid it was too little too late.
By your journals I'm guessing that most of you are as busy as I am. Hope that is translating into having a fun summer.

Hi Buffy, so far so good here..only thing is missing the husband..and our porch sitting...this time next week I should be home or at least on the way..so sorry to hear about the garden..my other sister brought some tommy toes and some okra yesterday from her garden and I hope to fix a salad and fry up some of that good old stuff Sunday...have a great day girl...........HUGS.....Bren

Bren - Please remember I am originally from NY. Please define "Tommy Toes". I am familiar with okra and am ashamed to say it is one of the few veggies that I have no use for. Maybe some day I'll develop the taste for it. Last time I had it I was at the Red Lobster trying to eat soup containing Okra. The waitress took pity on me and brought me another selection.

Buffy, our garden has put the brakes on due to the heat, as well. No tomatoes for a good while now, but DH bought some smaller plants to grow and develop and hopefully produce something in September/October.

Sandy - Good luck with your fall crop. I should go down and work in the garden but this heat has taken my last bit of ambition. The air conditioning running full blast has clogged my sinuses. What I'm really saying is that I am a big WIMP!

Buffy, I am so busy having a fun-filled summer that I barely have time to stop in and say Hello. It's a shame what the weather has done to so many gardens this year. Unless I'm very mistaken, Tommy Toes are tomatoes! See how they sound alike? My mother-in-law used to call tomatoes that. I heartily agree with your assessment of okra! It is incredibly nasty for a vegetable. I think those of us born above the Mason-Dixon line lack the gene to enjoy it. Have a lovely evening!
