Sandy701's Journal, 30 June 2011

Walked 3.4 miles today, only .8 with doggies. It was already 86 when we started, 88 when I began the rest of the walk w/o dogs, and 90 when I finished. Sheesh! Luckily, the pool was great, so I could get cooled off in relatively short order.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that my new weight held today and didn't bounce back up, as it often does for a day or so after I record a loss. Although I've been having (lots of) peanuts, I haven't been having anything with sugar alcohols, no Atkins bars and no ice cream bars. Hmmmm...like Paula's s/f jello, the bars haven't been a problem for me since I started. At one point I gave them up for a week or so and it made no difference. This time....well....time - and the scale - will tell.

I'm looking to go grocery shopping today and load up on a few more veggies. The garden is supplying us with multiple tomatoes every day this week, but they've been my sole veggie as I'm eating at least 2/day! Can't let these great tomatoes go to waste. Still, I'd like a munchy veggie alternative to the peanuts.

Congrats on maintaining. I hate it when you get excited about a drop only to see the scale bounce again before it goes back down. Sounds like your doing great though!

I am very happy your scale didn't yo-yo on you! Nobody likes a yo-yo scale! My tomato plants are just starting to make flowers. Guess what! It's 85 & HUMID in Wisconsin, pretty normal for July!

Lucky you being able to pick tomatoes out of your garden; we didn't get any this year though it didn't help that the plants were attempting to grow in the shade of scaffolding for a couple of months! _______________ Congratulations on holding your weight.

Sandy - Don't you just love it when the scale holds! Sounds like you have finally found the problem. By the way, still jealous of your tomatoes - mine are hard and green and very scarce.

Liltatgirl...I've kind of gotten used to the scale bounce. It used to freak me out, but now I know that if it does that, it's just my body being its typical ol' self. LOL! Hope your stress level is coming down - stress isn't good for brides-to-be!

Dar, 85 seems a tad high for early July in WI but that humidity....oh, gosh, brings back the memories! Hope you can get some boating in to enjoy that summer weather.

Buffy, problems on this journey are just par for the course, aren't they? Just wish "finding the problem" were easier; as it is now, it's more like trying to staple jello to the wall! Just when you think you've got it solved, something else slips through and creates a different problem! Hope your holiday plans don't get rained out!

Bren, you're right...one's own garden tomatoes are amazingly better than any one could find in a store. Enjoy the long holiday weekend.

Milbwnicole...you must definitely have a green thumb. We've tried growing peppers, even in states that boast about their peppers, but we just don't seem to have the knack for it. Peppers, strawberries, and corn are the only things we've tried again and again to no avail. My DH would LOVE having a harvest of peppers - you're so lucky. Have a wonderful 4th.

Ruby...for whatever reason, we've had a very successful year so far with tomatoes. With any luck, we might even be able to begin a second group of plants to carry us into fall. Then again, the way these are growing and developing, maybe they'll still produce for a few more months - who knows. Thanks for stopping by!

Yummu tomato's in omemeto, plan, with salt or on a sandwich. I love them all. Have a great 4th.

Mel, I eat them plain with salt...can't bring myself to obscure their taste in a salad. Have a safe holiday.
