madanjen's Journal, 18 February 2015

I knew I had to recommit and Monday and Tuesday were perfect days. I did my cardio on Monday and my Arms and Shoulders on Tuesday. Today will be lower body with 20 minutes of cardio on my recumbent bike, with Friday being chest and back and Cardio on Friday and starting over.

I plan on repeating this over and over along with keeping the eating healthy for the following month. I was just below 200 and gained almost 15 pounds by not exercising and eating very unhealthy. But for me, this wasn't the biggest issue. At 200, my blood pressure was 129 over 64. I checked it last Sunday and it was 153 over 73. Amazing how a few pounds will add so much to the blood pressure. So I want to get that down again by doing the things I did before and not taking medicine.

I changed my image picture to hopefully motivate you as it does me. SUCCESS HAS MANY TURNS...DON'T FORGET THAT. BUT IT'S THE ULTIMATE GOAL THAT WE SEEK REGARDLESS OF THE TWISTS AND TURNS. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY HUMP DAY!

Do like your image. There are many twists and turns, aren't there?

Yes I do like it. I know it's not a straight line to a goal and this is just a reminder that when we stray we really do need to have a compass to tell us where we are going and not to worry about temporary distractions.

Know what I'm grateful for.... the fact that when I screw up, I have the opportunity to start over again.

Has anyone ever wiped out their daily calories with exercise? I need to burn 271 calories to wipe out today's calorie intake. Since it's not the much, I wonder if anyone has and more importantly, how they felt. It would be almost like fasting right?

My story is that I have let the weight creep up over the years and finally just got really motivated. I bought the Withings pulse O2 and have been for the last 3 weeks monitoring my steps to increase my activity levels and now have lost almost 8 pounds during the first month of this journey. Daily tracking of calories has led me to fatsecret so that I can create the calorie deficit to lose weight. I didn't get here over night and attaining my goal will take me almost through the end of the year...long journey but so far I am enjoying it. I feel motivated.

LinLaura... congrats on setting realistic time goals. Like you said, we didn't get where we are overnight, so being mindful to take it slow and not putting pressure on yourself to lose quickly puts you ahead of the game. Don't forget to enter your food everyday.
