How many carbs are you eating daily?

I had no weight loss for weeks....then it just started coming down....I feel like Dr. Frankenstein with my own body! I have been experimenting with carb cycling as I read it may help with a plateau....it seems to have worked a bit but I am VERY scared of getting a taste for carbs again plus it jolts strong hunger signals to turn on which is a pain to deal with...but the drop feels good. Funny how I am longing for the Lower Carb, no hunger, plateau days! Hopefully by tomorrow the hunger will be gone.

For months I had a strict 30-40 grams of carbs a day and also ate A LOT of natural fat like coconut oil in my smoothies and grass-fed butter in my eggs....I dropped 25 pounds doing that. Then all weight loss stopped for 3 weeks. UGH....Last week I up'd the cards to about 135-150 grams for 1 day then went back to 30 grams and started loosing weight. I just did another 150 grams a few days ago and have done 1 low carb day and 1 water fast day. Well my "Water Fast" days are really many cups of hot tea and crystal light all day.

I did the atkins diet after I had my first child. The weightloss was amazing. I was so impressed with my weight lost during the first phase,I stayed on it for a month and dropped 40lbs in 6 weeks. I know there may be a lot of people who may disagree with my rapid weight loss, but It worked for me. The first two weeks, for me were very difficult. I was determined so I stuck to it, and drank lots of water. I took vitamins because my body was missing out on a lot of nutrients that I would normally consume through various foods. I was able to maintain my weight by carefully watching what I ate.

My plan is to try the (1) carb up day a week (Sat or Sun) then go back to lower carb days for the rest of the week....at least until my body gets wise to my trickery!!! :0)

Thanks for the info. I am around 50-60g carbs a day. I am trying to get my body to slowly adjust. Right now I feel so tired. Not sure if its from lack of carbs for I need more sleep!

When I carb cycle I still stay away from the starch carbs. I go with veggies and fruit.

Hahaha....I know the feeling Panigale.....with me it is often both! It is hard for me to sleep past 6-7 hours. It is a strange thing too but a lot of people find that getting the body use to really low carbs shoots the energy thru the roof. That's what happened to me which is why I was so scared to eat a higher carb count a few weeks ago cause I was cruising on high energy. The tired feeling also MIGHT be from the extra unused carbs you might be eating converting to blood sugar and your muscles not needing it at that time so out comes the insulin to sweep it out of the blood and that is what tends to drop the energy level. You seem active so you may want to test your body by holding off eating your carbs until after a workout to ensure they will be used by the muscles more.....your muscle energy receptors they say tend to be most active after workouts. I am not as active so my over CARBING will go straight to fat. For me being both less active and VERY carb sensitive....daily consumption of 60 grams of carbs would be weight gain for sure. You have a lucky body!!!

Yes Northenmusician ....good tip.....my mistake last week was adding a baked potato to a meal....major hunger pains after! This past weekend I did fruit, hearty veg omelet and oatmeal.

Oh I am not sure how lucky I am currently! I think I am experiencing carb flu? over the past week I think I was eating around 80g-90g carbs average a day and I felt fine..but I am trying to drop lower 50-60 to start fatloss but my god I can fall asleep at my work desk right now and I feel a little light headed and nausea I HATEEEEE this feeling........ I just want to transition to low carb and not feel this way anymore..I feel miserable to the point I don't want to work lol.

Keto induction is always a downer. Give it 7-10 days and then "like magic" you will feel energetic again. Your body just needs to regain its balance now that you've thrown it off it's groove.

Yikes! God...I TOTALLY KNOW THAT FEELING...I had it the very first time I did Atkins years ago...miserable feeling. Do some searches on this for your own tolerance level but I started to add 1/2 a tsp of Himalayan Salt and a pinch of baking soda to a cup of water first thing in the mornings on low carb days. I read about it on a KETO nutritional site once to help with the nausea. I do it daily now as extra help with that feeling....I have not had that feeling since...Look it up and see if that is something for you.

Okay I will take your advice, I remember reading drinking chicken broth helps with the nausea, I might give it a go and add a little salt. This feeling is awful..I wonder do you get this feeling this bad after a carb refeed? Or is the body adjusted and a day with higher carb wont put you back into low carb flu?

With the refeed...at least for now...I am just getting intense hunger...but I do use salt to curb the nausea....I have been looking all morning for ways to cut the hunger as its pretty bad for me....It is my body trying to take control and force me to refill those fat cells!!! Here is the site I read about the salt..FYI http://ketodietapp.com/Blog/post/2013/04/16/Keto-flu-and-Sufficient-Intake-of-Electrolytes

Ahh I see, I notice right now I am experiencing intense hunger. I cannot tell if its believe I am not eating enough or due to the carb flu. I am going to check out the blog site about the salt. Maybe adding a bit more salt into my diet will help me here. Then again 7-10 days to wait it out is a while specially if I will be feeling like this. THanks !!
