I received a diagnosis of diabetes 2 recently. Boy oh boy , although I have had a "pre-diabetic" condition for a while, this latest news, made a big impression on my self-awareness. After visiting the endocrinologist, I thought to myself -- no way was I going to start the daily sugar check and multiple drug intake protocol. It took me little time to finally decide, enough is enough. The simplicity of losing weight vs the complexity of continuous testing and potentially ever-growing list of meds and potentially daily insulin shots, never mind. the clear impact of failing systems, loss of tactile body feeling and worse, seemed to me like a no-brainer. Food and pleasure and satisfaction of large meal eating and flavors, seems so much less important than the profoundly negative impact on my body and life of being so overweight , out of shape and continuous battle of maintaining a fitting wardrobe ...now, coupled with the very real threat to life. Sooooo.... here I am taking this fight for fitness seriously for the first time in many many years. We are so crazy as humans ... learning lessons of life and then forgetting them often, just as quickly or, perhaps, a little slower, but still lapsing into "back-sliding" (as the more palatable phraseology is used). Time to make it happen now...do it! I am on my way and am asking for help from above and any of you who want to share. Be well and have a great day today .... as we all can watch this weekend the finals of Roland Garros, as a living example of the effectiveness of conditioning and setting and meeting goals by the great tennis athletes playing this demanding Championship.
