So my son has discovered he likes guac. Did I mention that yet. I went to pilates reformer class today it was pretty good.
I had a conversation with my sil, she has been trying to eat better since october. At that pt she had gained 20 lbs since getting married (4 or 5 years ago). Now since october she has gained 20 more.. 10 of it in October and the other 10 since then. I told her about this website and asked her if she is counting her calories.. she said no.. that she was just texting her friend everything she eats and when. (like for accountability) I told her that she should actually count them and see where everything is going.. cause maybe there are calories sneaking in there she is not aware of. She was not on board.. She looks great to me.. but I know she feels bad about her weight gain.. 122 to 161.. that is alot of lbs. I asked her what she is doing and she said all she eats is healthy food.. and I am not saying that is not the case.. but clearly something is going on. I told her she should go to the dr and make sure her thyroid is normal.. and that for 2 weeks she should commit to writing down everything she is eating and just see what it adds up to.. and to measure and not guess. I know she is frustrated because she feels like she has been going with out since October and has gained 20 lbs.. that would totally stink.. but if she is not willing to try something new (cause clearly what she is doing is not working) then I really dont know what else to tell her.. I dont want to be unsympathetic but this is the 3rd or 4th time we have had this conversation.. admittedly the last two times her weight gain was at 10 lbs, then 15, and now 20.. so I feel pretty good saying "what you are doing is not working.. time to try something different!"

It's hard though eh? I joined this site a year before I actually started logging food and really participating... it seemed like such a major time commitment. And it wasn't really, but I had to start to see that.
