Revans's Journal, 22 April 2011

Today after breakfast, I had a "OMG" moment about food. This may sound silly but I realized that food is a source of energy for your body. It is not there to make you feel better, entertainment, comfort, or to resolution to your problems. It is simply a source of energy, WOW!!!!!! Now I need to find out how I am using food, as a source of energy or for comfort.

that's awesome! I read a book a long time ago about how your body is basically like a chemistry lab. if you treat it as such you will find you will get results that you are looking for. ceratin foods will act in certain ways. this is very true.

I've recently had the same realization. When you think of food as fuel, you eat better and feel better! The problem for me is that I LOVE food. I love healthy food, but I also love bad food. I find that I can still eat some of these things without overdoing it especially if I only eat when I'm hungry and stop when when I am full. Now that I've cut back on my intake it doesn't take that much food to keep me going.

OMG! I just had that conversation with my mother after the gym this morning. Someone told me if hunger is not the problem then eating is not the solution. I didnt realize how much more I ate just because food is GOOD. I have to be aware of my body...it tells me way ahead of time when its had enough but nooo...I override that signal with all kinds of rationalizations like...its only a few more bites, I dont want to waste it, or its just another small piece. I give myself kudoos when I listen to my body. I am sometimes suprised at how little it really takes to fuel the body.. I also feel better eating small, frequent portions, unlike when I use to eat a couple plates at the end of the day that needed side boards!!
