GlennM's Journal, 29 March 2011

I'm on my way with the writing - I am typing up query letters to send out next week to literary agents - all I have to do is change the literary agent's name with each copy, some will take portions of the book. Anyway, the weather has been frigid and still is - much colder than normal no sign of spring right now 40s temperature and a cold wind. The dieting is going well, I am not doing low carb right now - but have for the most part been doing gluten-free dieting except for on Saturday. I hope to be mailing out at least a few dozen letters next week or more...

I did well today, just had some hash browns and eggs for breakfast, haven't eaten again yet and am not hungry. I got quite a few query letters ready to send out next week and will do more maybe this evening and definitely some more the next few days. Toto is bugging me to go out again, she is a laugh, she knows how to 'high five' I found out - she's funny...

Toto is the best - very entertaining - scratched the palm of my hand to bleeding with the 'high five' - her paws have claws that are getting long. A grooming is likely in a week or two. If I 'high five' with her and she raises her paw to hit my hand I had better wear gloves. Hope you're well Bren - and everyone else too on here...

Thanks Lisa - I moved there when the train system was fairly new and it was great to get to downtown. I had a favorite music store downtown that was quite inexpensive for CDs. The weather there in summer is the best, always hot, mid 90s or higher and no rain, so one can always plan to go out and have fun and swim, etc. I loved the mall there too, so much to do in Sacramento and one never gets bored and I only felt one quake while up in the middle of the night that had been up in the Sierra Nevadas, Sacramento feels the distant quakes but doesn't get the worst of it like many other places in California. Eventually I would like to move somewhere warmer than New England...

Glen I have lived here since 1970 and never felt a quake here but in 1989 on October 17th I was driving home from the Bay Area with my one month old daughter and learned when we arrived home that the bridge had collapsed...whew that was pretty close and a very sad event. Today is beautiful...we have had a normal Winter this year and today was the first Spring feeling day as it is close to 80 degrees and beautiful. I love Sacramento because I am a quick drive to the Sierra mountains, Tahoe and snow and a quick trip to the city by the Bay, S.F. Downtown Sac is most beautiful because of the Victoria homes and trees. Take a look at thecoach's avatar if you havn't seen it yet...good question he has presented. TOWANDA!!!

I was awake at night reading, summer of '94 at about 4 or 5 a.m. I felt a good shake, it wasn't really enough to wake anyone, it was in the mountains I heard a few hours later. It wasn't anything compared to the Los Angeles shaking. I read a really dumb study the other day, it said one earthquake doesn't affect anyplace far away, 30 years tells them this. The earth has been around a long, long time and thirty years is like a millisecond in time so I believe a quake from many years ago, even hundreds of years still affects the area, and they did say the quake in Japan altered the way the earth revolves by a very tiny amount. There have been quakes in Burma and before Japan in New Zealand. The earth is connected in ways we don't know. I for one am glad I am out of Los Angeles. We may get snow tomorrow, I'm hoping it is just in the mountains - I am ready for spring the weather here sucks...

Lisa - I have been to the district area near the Capitol Building that has lots of beautiful Victorian houses. I would love to move back there in a way, yet probably never can; a former girlfriend is still likely there and was involved with another guy then and stayed with him, it is a long story. Have a good day ahead...
