Money

Today i heard Robin Williams has died, and it saddens me. To me it proves that money does not make people happy. Since i have my own company (people with an android device try some g4a-game) money is a big focus, since if i don't make any money i dont eat...

But the focus in life should not be on the money.

What would i do with a million dollar, i have asked myself that question a lot of times. And if i tell you the answer you would not believe me. But i want you all to ask that question to yourself today.

Would you buy a big house? Would you buy a big present for your loved one? Would you buy a big car, an pool a jet plane?

What is the price of a smile on the face of a sick kid? What is the price of the happiness of people who lost their homes? What is the price of piece in the lives of people fleeying from a war? What is the price of the heartbeat of a mother holding her child that was healed or saved?

what would you do with a million dollar?
What would a million people do with one dollar?

can you spare one?
think about it!
maud.

I will miss Robin Williams. He made so many people happy but apparently he was not...

Well with a million dollars which is worth a lot more here in Serbia I would buy a little house, finally get married and have a child. I would buy my boyfriend, then husband a car, since I don't have a drivers licence and I would buy gifts for my family members.

It's sad. My wife cried when she heard about his death. She said that the first time she cried for the passing of a celebrity. I sometime get depressed and think it would be easier to just bail but then I snap out of it and think about the aftermath for those still here. It seems selfish and it's time to man-up and remember life ain't for sissies.

Robin William's death is a shame. Sad that someone who brought smiles to so many had such an internal struggle. As for money, I'll never have a million dollars so a more realistic question to me is what am I doing now with what I have in a way that can benefit others. A relatively small thing in terms of what it costs me, but that has made the biggest impact on my life: My wife and I sponsor a 9 year old child in Bangladesh and his family through Compassion International, $38.00 a month, plus additional optional (voluntary) gifts as we can afford to do so. A couple weeks ago we received a picture of the family with shoes and a cow they were able to purchase with a family gift we sent earlier this year. The cow will provide a source of milk/nutrition for them and possibly income from milk they can sell. What an eye-opener and blessing for us to know that with a relatively small amount of money we can make a huge impact and help a poor family in another part of the world have a better life and maybe escape the cycle of poverty. We just sent another family gift and I'm anxious to find out how this is used to benefit the family. I say this not to put a feather in my cap or pat on the back at all, but just to say that it is possible to do a lot to help others with relatively little, and the blessing received in knowing that you're part of something good really is wonderful.

I can't believe this about Robin Williams. It's shocking that someone who brought so much joy to others was in so much emotional pain.

I want to know what you'd do with a million dollars. I'd probably sell everything here, get a nice comfy RV and travel the US seeing all the places I only visited in airport terminals. Get to know people. Have the time and resources to help those in need whether it be a kind ear, a word of encouragement or the occasional anonymous gift.

So, so sad. Who knows what kind of demons he had. My thoughts are with his loved ones, nearest and dearest. RIP

Thanks for posting this, Maud. I wondered who would be the first of my FS friends to mention his passing. Like jmp, I don't need to fantasize about what I'd do with a million dollars. In the here and now, I do what I can as well. I've done a lot of volunteering. My father and stepfather don't get traditional gifts from me. I sponsor a portion of an animal for families around the world through "Heifer International." I give to worthy organizations, like ones that give micro-loans to women to improve their small businesses to provide for their families. We all benefit immensely from GIVING not receiving. Obviously, it doesn't hurt to have the ability to spend quality time with your loved ones and sometimes money helps facilitate that, but it doesn't have to be about the money.

As the Bible says, you can't serve GOD and Money too!

Re: What would you do. I would pay off the few debts I have, sock a little away, and then hopefully, look after needs of people around me. I believe we are where we are because that's where we can truly make a difference. Also, it keeps us from thinking that money is the only answer for those around us, or from thinking that we've really done something by giving money when actually, physically giving them a hand would be better for them and better for our spirits. C6. You can anything and God too. There's a pecking order and He's pretty jealous of it. He made us... His prerogative.

I heard somewhere that most comedians suffer with Depression or Bipolar and the comedy they create is their way of coping and/or overcompensating. Robin, you left us too soon xo. As for the money question… I don't have much but I'm OK with what I have, when considering more than half the population of the planet (3 billion people) live on less than $3 a day, I am truly abundant and I'm so grateful for all that I do have. Too much of anything is never enough… the sickness of our culture. That said, if I suddenly came across a million dollars I would use it to make more money, of course :) Many blessings Puhpine!

I think most of us that say not to make life about money, are the ones that aren't trying to figure out how to feed our families every day. It is easy to say that when you know your kids aren't starving. Our society forces our lives to be about money. I am very fortunate that I don't have to worry about it, but I have been there before.
