kmunson's Journal, 07 July 2014

I took a break from the food journal for a while. Didn't seem to make a difference. I have been able to do more in the gardens outside in the last few days because it finally quit raining everyday. I had been losing again...but then came that awful TOM and it upset everything again. I don't understand why I don't lose during that time. However, yesterday at church a older good friend asked me if I was still losing weight because I looked so good. Revitalized my efforts. My daughter had picked out the new shirt I was wearing...so that must have made the difference. I don't feel any different. I have been basically stalled out for the last six months. Now that the weather is better maybe I will be able to do walks and work in my gardens more. If I can handle the July heat in Minnesota and don't get carried off or sick from the mosquitoes that are everywhere right now.
Have a great day everyone...

Water retention? Same here. I feel so fat and bloated! I like to work outside too though so I hope that's burning more calories. I haven't stalled. I'VE GAINED! I am about 10 pounds heavier than I was this time last year and vacation is approaching. Doesn't feel good to be on the beach feeling like you're a beached whale. That's me! I have a little less than 6 weeks to do anything about it.

Must be the curse of getting older Becky! I had been doing so well...then the wheels came off the bus. Dad dying, husband with health issues and injuring my shoulder all had a piece of the derailing. I haven't noticed more water percentage on my magical scale which makes it all the more confusing. Having someone comment on the way I looked was the best thing that could have happened to me. I think it may help me turn the corner. I wish I could write something that would do the same for you...I feel your pain.

I'm right there with ya on the stall in weight loss. But was happy at Dr's appt yesterday to learn I have lost 3 lbs since last visit 4-6 weeks ago. At least that's something, though not nearly as much as I'd like. My hip & back hurts so much it's hard to convince myself that exercycing regularly will make it feel better. I know I do need to exercycle though, so will keep trying. I've decided even if it takes me 2 years to lose the 50 lbs & have the hip replacement, I will get it eventually, & will feel much better then. The scale can be so confusing & deceptive, sometimes I want to just chuck it out the window, LOL! But it does feel so good when a friend tells you how good you look & they can tell you've lost weight. I had that experience recently at our DD's church, which we don't attend that often, & I loved it! Just keep on keepin on gal, & the results have to show sooner or later, & I hope for you (& me) it's SOONER.

Kmunson, you were my inspiration when I first got here, so I won't let you get discouraged! Allow yourself a one week write off for your TOM, but keep on track the other 3 weeks of the month. If you can get a pound or two under your belt the rest of the month, then slow but steady wins the race. Come on, we can do it!

Thank you all. Slow and steady is best. I know that...but we all want better results than you sometimes see.

Thank you MM! I don't think I am worthy of inspiring anyone. I am only about a third of the way through where I need to be.

You may only be a third of the way there, but that is still a /third/ of the way there. For sticking with it to get as far as you have and with that long of a stall you are inspirational.
