Found an old lab report from two years ago in a drawer today before I went on Atkins and I had a lot of messed up labs and now they're all normal. Nothing was really messed up bad but everything was nearly borderline screwed up on function tests, etc. and the cholesterol was super sky high so that was probably causing all of those problems... So I can't go on WW or South Beach if I wanted to as Atkins really did wonders for me health-wise. I do low fat and low calorie too, low calorie alone doesn't work it is fine for some but I also have to do low carb to lose and maintain and to keep my triglycerides and cholesterol low. I heard cinnamon in small doses raises good cholesterol, too much can be harmful, it is also good for high blood sugar too, I try to remember to put some in coffee...

I hate weight watchers. I switched from Atkins to WW when I was going to go for a long hike and I was induction and my snack options that I could carry through the woods with me were limited. So, I switched to make camping/hiking more accessible. I'm miserable. This is not a way that I like to eat and I want to switch back but I'm afraid that going low carb, high carb, low carb in such a short amount of time will cause a weight gain. Do you have any tips on what to take for like a 3-7 day camping trip? It's hard, but WW sucks.

Ask sara - I never went on one. She knows Atkins best. It probably would cause gain to go on Atkins on a trip, as you might need to up it for the trip. Eggs are a start as they have low carbs and give good amounts of energy... Check out the Atkins book. Nuts have a lot more carbs but do give energy too but would be bad for WW...

I would try and eat as recommended for lifetime maint. A mix of nuts with some sugar free choclate pieces and maybe some dried fruit would be good for snacking. Also, jerky or beef sticks don't have to be refrigerated and many are very low carb. Hard boiled eggs will keep for several hours out of the fridge and are great protein snacks. If you are forced into having something like crackers or such, find a brand that is high fiber like All Bran crackers so you will at least be getting something good with your carbs. I don't think I would try and do induction during a hiking trip, but you should be able to still be low carb.

I had no idea that hb eggs could be kept out of the fridge for so long. That's amazing! Yeah. I think I'll put off hikes until after induction and I'm going back on induction beginning tomorrow morning. I'm going to stop and get the stuff for omelet's on the way home tonight. Thanks for your help.
