PrairieRains's Journal, 09 April 2021

I am back!!! Last night guests left, yes they were family and yes, after the shock of unexpected house guests. It was ok.

Last night we celebrated with steak, eggs, and fried jicama. It was heaven.

I refuse to beat myself up over this gain. It could have been so much worse. Actually a bit surprised it wasn't higher. I also learned I love my style of eating. Future house guests will be the ones compromising. 😊

It was nice today to be cleaning, feeding animals with just hubby.

Got our baby chick's on Weds. So that is a plus.

Have a lovely evening. Now onto to logging my foods.

Yay!!! Hi Rains! I had a gain and hadn’t had company, so no excuse for me.🙁 I did have a delicious Easter, but should have lost by now. I have had no exercise and everyday I say I will at least walk, yet I have been glued to my desk, just so overwhelmed at work. How many chicks hatched? I watch, ‘Coop Dreams’, on Facebook, he goes live on Friday nights. I will go watch it in a bit tonight. I‘m glad you enjoyed your company and that all is well. My husband resigned and today was his last day. My routine is going to get messed up, 🙃 but I am glad he is out of that horrible stressful job. Have a wonderful Weekend!! 🌺🌺🌺🌺

Shrewd you will drop it quickly. We don't hatch ours out. We buy day old chicksxthat are shipped and we pick up about 40 miles away. This time due to Easter we have week old chick's out of 25 we have lost 7 already 😭. Which is really strange we " might" loose 2 in a 25 Chick batch. These are strictly layers, Isa-browns they are amazing layers. I will keep you and hubby in prayers.

Thank you Rains. I looked up ISA Brown Chickens and learned a lot, thank you! How many chickens do you have? Do you ever eat them? My neighbor had chickens and I miss the clucking sounds in the early morning. Sorry more than usual have died. Bummer! Have a peaceful Saturday night.👍🌸🌺

Shrew, nope these are strictly laying hens. We buy our poultry from a colony they are organicly grown, clean and ready for the freezer cheaper than I can grow them, no muss no fuss that way.

Not to get in trouble, but I totally LOVE my neighbor, but they are Korean right from Korea, and often the chickens I get to know, suddenly are missing. I know what’s happening, but I also wonder why mess with it when you can pick up a ready to go prepared chicken for $3-4 at the market? Our market even roasts it for you, what could be better?👍🌸
