I commend all of you who take this challenge because you CAN break habits! When I was pregnant (nearly 20 yrs ago) my o-bgyn asked me to kick my 2-cola-a-day habit. She talked to me about what colas do to bone and muscle. And esp. being pregnant, I was forcing my baby to compete for resources! Her suggestion is that if you really want it, treat yourself 8oz of the real thing (no diet, etc.) Well, I just quit cold-turkey (I wanted a healthy baby more than cola). And the biggest bonus, after changing my habit for 6-7 months...I didn't crave or want them anymore! The small changes can mean SO much to your health and wellness.

I've been soda free since Jan 2013. I read an article in late 2012 that said dark colas (Coca-cola and Pepsi, specifically)contained something called phosphoric acid. The article went on to say that phosphoric acid breaks down the fluid in our joints and that was a contributor to joint pain, lower back pain, etc. Needless to say, now that I'm soda free, not only do I not crave it, all the joint pain seems to have gone away. Take it for what it is worth, for me, it worked.

I have been soda free since 2010, I don't miss it anymore. I even have water with my popcorn which was hard at first. Some things just "go together". I actually drink a lot more water than I ever have before, which is a good habit.

No Soda is great at helping with weight loss! Just don't switch to diet... just as bad according to research at preventing weight loss. When I am losing weight, one key is drinking only (or mostly) plain cold water.
