Ruhu's Journal, 23 March 2014

My early morning journal didn't post & is forever lost, but I'm at the airport now with time to spare, so what better, healthier way to spend it than with all of you! I had a really nice breakfast out with my mom, though bitter sweet of course as I had to say goodbye for now. But, I said goodbye after a really nice visit with many great memories, even though only I may recall them, but she may be able to be reminded of. Her memory has definitely deteriorated -- we saw one of her friends from the retirement community at the restaurant & she swore she didn't know them -- but she is happy & was so obviously thrilled having me here. I too do get such pleasure seeing her happy & so thrilled to introduce (multiple times) to her fellow retirement home residents.

Today is again a double transition day for me, as I transition home & back to the weekday routine. A double transition with double the opportunities to practice the mindfulness skills I've been working to learn & put into habit. I've got my P's (pause, plate, progress not perfection, & prayer) and my C's (staying curious, seeking calm & being in charge) with me, ready to spring into action if the need arises. And I've reviewed in my mind what my choices are if I find I want to eat when I'm not truly hungry for food -- I can eat anyway if I really, really, really, really (aka the 4 really test) want to as long as I pause & plate & do so with no regrets, or I can distract myself which while traveling could be breathing, journaling, reading or contacting a friend, or I can work through or sit with the thoughts or emotions disguising themselves as hunger. That's where the opportunity arises to continue stepping in that mindful, new direction on my healthy eating & living journey.

But now, even though I began my day praying for serenity, I can never get enough... So I pray again. And throughout this one day and each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, journal, log & express my way. I'm so very, very grateful for each of wonderful you, my family & IRL friends, having had a wonderful trip & visit win my Mom, having DH picking up at the airport & DS home to greet me, and with the health & wealth to live this life I love! Xoxox

Of course, the most important thing is that you Mom is happy. BTW - since you love your letters om much, I have some new ones for you. A new Buddy shared on my journal the guidelines for making good goals: RUMBA: test your goal to "Reasonable, Understandable, Measurable, Behaviourable, Attainable"

Such a wonderful positive journal to read esp after losing the first one. So many opportunities to fully reinforce your skills and pull those tools ~ Wonderful you. Like the RUMBA quote from Buffy as well. We are going to have such a treasure chest full of armor we're going to be awesome!
