Good Morning, FS Warriors! I can't begin to tell you how happy I am to be at work this bright and sunny morning, so I won't. It was another of those mornings where the alarm was saying, "Get up!," but my body was saying, Shut up!" I played the self-talk game for about 10 minutes and finally got up about 4:00 and pulled myself up onto the treadmill. I try not to watch the clock while I'm working out; 40 minutes is 40 minutes, but you know how a watched pot never boils, and it's the same with working out. I count how far I've gone by the number of songs I've made it through, and sometimes those guys really know how to drag out a song. Today I ran 9 min/walked 2, repeated that twice, and then ran 8 more, with 5 minute warmup and cooldown periods. Tomorrow I move on to stage 7, which is basically the same, except I only get one minute rest in between runs. Judging from the way I felt this morning, that's just enough time to suck down a half cup of water, wipe the sweat off my head, pray for the endurance to make it through the next cycle. So far so good. Yesterday, I stopped in Walmart, and while picking up a scrip, I saw this new hi-tech looking health monitoring machine there next to the pharmacy, and decided to give it a whirl. Just checked my blood pressure. 127/80. I thought, "Man, that's great!" Then it asked me if I wanted a report. I answered, "Yes," and it said, "127/80: Fair." Fair? Oh crap, I thought that was good! It's probably not going to get a lot better than that! It must be the bottom number that is a little high; I've always worried more about the top number. Well, I'll have to do a little more research, but I'd say it thinks my heart is working too hard in between. I'm sure some of you nurses out there can tell me if I've got anything to worry about there.
Anyway, life is good; the alternative sucks! I spent most of the evening practicing my crooning, and bellowing out songs like Folsom Prison Blues, Forever and Ever Amen, I Walk the Line and God Bless the USA. Going to have fun at this Nursing Home Gig next week. As you have probably ascertained from my song list, I am not a tenor. :D I'm really looking forward to performing there; they are the perfect audience: most of them are half deaf, and they just like the company.
Well, enough rambling for now. They're not paying me to chit chat on here, so I'm wishing you all a great and wonamous day. Toodles!
