Having another really good day : ) I know I am losing and rather than dreading it , I am excited and cant wait to weigh-in on Saturday and record my loss .

I found out today that my work is having a weigh loss competition starting in a few weeks. Its a 12 week program and I think I am going to sign up. the only thing that kinda scares me about it is ... I am a nurse and I have to weigh in at the therapy dept , meet with a dietician and follow certain criteria and rules such as regular checkins with a mentor from the fitness/therapy dept. I have been going over this in my mind ALLLLLLL day . And I have come to the conclusion that my anxiety about this revolves around my fear of failing. Therefore other people I must work with daily would be able to know that hey .. she failed and still weighs 250 pounds. So I think I really need to sign up for this. I am already more motivated that I have ever been . I saw today that I can print my food journal on here. So I could walk into the meeting with the dietician armed with proof that I am working hard at this and already started losing. And from there I could probably get some great help to keep me moving in the right direction.

Has anyone here ever done at challenge like this at your place of employment ????? And if so did it help you ????

I am determined not to fail this time, so I should not let me fear or failure stop me. I should sign up for this challenge and give it all I got, IN IT TO WIN IT : )

Wow!! You need to totally take advantage of this. My sister took advantage of a challenge at her work place and even though she didn't lose as much as the other people she lost some and we were all so proud of her. You can totally do it!! Give your some credit for being strong and dedicated. You help other people all day every day, now it is time to help you!! Believe, believe, believe. Think of all the good nutrition information you will take away from the meeting with the dietician as well. You can do it!!

I am going to sign up . The signups start on Jan 20th. and the actual thing starts the first week of February. I know the girl who won it last year lost 60 pounds overall and has kept it off and everyone is still talking about how awesome she did . Maybe I can be that girl this year !

Thanks : ) I am going to sign up first thing next week when the sign-ups start. I think it will give me a lot more motivation. My only drawback is that I have to entrust something so personal to people I work with daily. I think I would feel better if it was strangers. I know that's odd but true. But I am gonna swallow my fear ( or maybe its embarrassment )and DO IT.

hey Chris, Ive done three of these, one at work, two at the gym I go to and had a lot of success. Fear of failure is understandable but it can also be a good motivational tool, lets face it we need all the help we can get, and some mentoring, help and the air of competition is great - just look at the biggest loser shows. Good luck with this go for it, and don't worry about being a loser - be a winner.
