kimjinxie's Journal, 22 December 2013

Beautiful weather today, so I went outside and did a 5k light jog in about 37 minutes. I am consistently completing the distance in that amount of time, but I want to get it down to 30 minutes by January 11. I have registered for a 5k run on that day, so that is my current goal.

I am also trying to get back to at least 4 days in the gym each week.

I was sorting through medical records today since we are changing insurance eff January 1st and I am proud of my accomplishments since I started focusing on weight and joining this site.

Since what I guess was my heaviest weight at about 227 lbs in Feb 2012 to my goal weight of about 180-185 my blood tests and overall health have greatly improved.

My glucose was high 90's and as of yesterday my fasting glucose is 74.

My total cholesterol has gone from a high of 242 (ideal is below 199) to 187.

HDL = 59
Triglyceride = 69

Wonderful, isn't it? Getting off meds and feeling better in general. We gain so gradually, we have no idea the damage we're doing to our bodies. We acclimate to what's going on and like you and others, we wake up and realize we're really messing up. Good job on the weight loss.

Hey jinx, you are doing FANTASTIC! I haven't been able to run 5 mins yet, let alone 5k. Keep it going! If you want to supercharge your calorie burn, you might try adding some weights to your workout. 37 mins of weights will burn about double the calories as the run, and the added muscle will continue burning more, even when you're sleeping. WTG, you are doing awesome. Have a warm and happy holiday, too!
