Annabelle3117's Journal, 02 December 2013

Very excited to report that I had a very successful low calorie weekend, and went to the gym both days. Now that I'm back on top of things I look back and wonder what the crap I was doing gobbling down all that sugar!!! I have not weighed in today, but yesterday I was already down two pounds so I'm heading back down to where I was at a pretty reasonable rate. I have some healthy meals planned out for myself, and that's always a great thing.

Went to the store this morning for dog food and coffee lol, ended up buying a winter table cloth. It's blue with white snowflakes, and it was cheap but I'm still so stinking excited about it. I never buy anything I want, and it's kind of hilarious how excited I am about this table cloth. I guess I'm not hard to please! :-) Now that I'm home I've got to get this place cleaned up before I head to the gym at noon, then off to work again. I'm so in the holiday spirit. Can't wait to get a little money and do some Christmas shopping.

I am having my kids do chores around the house so they can earn some money to buy items and donate to charity. They are very excited!! So far they have their chore money from last week (ten dollars) and all the loose change they could find around the house. My daughter is also going to be making buckeyes (with a little help of course) to sell and help earn more money for their charity purchases. Cassidy is nine, and she wants to buy supplies for the humane society. My son Brayden is four, and he is very excited to by toys to donate to toys for tots. I could not be more proud. I came up with this idea to try and teach them the true meaning of the holidays, as well as keeping them humble. I didn't have crap growing up, and honestly we don't have much now. (hence the tablecloth excitement lol) This is a big deal to me... lots of people want their kids to be intelligent or wealthy, I just want mine to be healthy and kind. If I can instill that in them then I'll consider it a success lol.

So anywho, that's just a walk through the mind of your friendly neighborhood Yolanda, I hope everyone is making it through this terrible Monday-after-a-holiday-weekend. :-)

That is fabulous...both on the weight loss front and the parenting front! Your kids are going to be so well rounded and ready for life in the "real world". Not everything is handed to most people. We all struggle through what is important. I am also pleased that my youngest is thrilled to fill a bag of school supplies and winter gear for a 12 year old girl from a less fortunate family. I have already crocheted an infinity scarf for this young girl and now Sarah wants to go shopping for the rest of the stuff. Maybe we will have to go tonight so she quits asking for "when?" We have to have the bag turned in by next Sunday so that is our deadline.

I know how much it can mean to get something just for your 'nest' I love china and am always happy to change out my china cabinet for the seasons just so I can touch my treasures. As for your kids, I can't think of a better thing to hope for and to teach. Kindness is lacking in this world in so many ways. I think you are doing a wonderful job to just plant the seed that being kind to others is they key to happiness and self worth. Then on top of it to be teaching them the tools for maintaining a healthy lifestyle - that is so important. AND that you don't have to be perfect but that you can change everything about yourself with some will power and discipline.... Well your kids have hit the trifecta Yo. And all because you have been strong enough to learn and grow and change.

That's awesome that your daughter is so excited to help another student, K. As alex said, Kindness is most certainly lacking nowadays, we need as many quality young people as we can get!! Sure makes you feel good as a mom :-) Thank you Alex! I do the best I can to influence them positively. I'm trying to influence my husband as well lol. I'm extremely grateful that they are both in school today, but they are great kids lol, and I'm blessed to have them!
