I had an awesome run on the treadmill @ the gym last night! Yes, after 11 hours @ work, I went to the gym to burn some calories! I usually avoid the treadmill, because running has yet to become a joy to me! It's the breathing part that I have yet to master ... but last night was great! I warmed up, then ran 2 minutes & walked 1 minute. I repeated the run/walk pattern for about 30-35 minutes & then finished with a fast walk with incline. I had my IPOD & allowed the music to fuel my run. I was soooooooooo inspired by one particular song ... "Burn For You" by TobyMac. I have heard this song a hundred times, but this time it was different! It was like God was fueling me & lifting me up! As soon as the song was over, I was looking for the repeat button to listen to it again! I felt like I was flying! It was awesome! Until...................
I felt the rollers @ the back of the treadmill under my feet ... I tried to catch up, but .... thump! There I went ... off the back of the treadmill! My most dreaded mishap had come to life! I quickly gathered myself & glance up to see that the girl on the treadmill was in her own little world & wasn't staring @ me! I was still on my feet, so I attempted to jump back on @ the running speed. I have seen so many others do it, so surely I can! WRONG! Off the end I go again! This time my knees hit the treadmill mat & then the floor! UGH! Again, I tried to gather myself & up I went to try, try again! This time I made it back on @ my walking speed & did my best to pull myself together. Now remember, I am not in the privacy of my own house! I am @ the local gym @ 6:30pm - the busiest time of the day! Thank God that I was in the cardio movie room where it was dark! I am sure that the darkness contributed to my fall, but it also helped to hide it! The girl next to me never even asked if I was okay, but I have to say that I feel safe in assuming that she never saw the catastophie in the first place! ;)
You will be relieved to know that I did return to my run/walk plan & completed a total of 65 minutes on the treadmill (& burned 550 calories!). Now I just have to find that repeat cycle on my IPOD so that it doesn't destract me from what's moving under my feet! I came home, soaked in a hot tub & observed the damage ... a burning abrasion to my left knuckles & softball-size green bruises to both of my knees! Lovely! Thank God it's not shorts season! ;)
