went to the gym last night and walked for an hour and i can feel it today. i want to start building up my upper body, not sure how often you should lift weights.

From what personal trainers told me you should life 3x per week. This way you give your muscles ample time to recover and reduce risk of injury. I was also told, which i found very interesting to do your weight training before you do your cardio because it gets your heart rate going for your cardio workout and you will burn more fat and calories.
