BuffyBear's Journal, 19 September 2013

OK - so I thought I'd been doing great this month but the reality is in the MATH. Averaging my last 11 days:
Calories = 1357
Net Carbs = 31.45

Will use a suggestion from Mom and cut calories by 10%, which will only leave me 1,223 calories a day. OOUCH! Lets round that up to 1225. Realistically, cannot lower the carbs by 10%, but - 5% = 30.

These are my new guidelines: Max 1225 Cals & 30 Net Carbs per day. Will try this for a week and see what happens.

Good going. Keep looking. You'll find something that will work. Just don't give up. How's the exercising coming along? Or did I cross the line on that one?

Bren - this old lady hasn't given up yet!

Sounds like a plan. Even though those calories seem low, you might find that by lowering your carbs a bit, as you're planning to do, even a minimal amount of hunger might disappear, so the lower calories won't seem so bad. Good luck with the experiment!

ClassicRocker - I estimate that I walked over 2 miles at lunch time (Wednesday and Thursday) and plan to do the same today. Tried some of your "bed time" exercises again last night. You would laugh if you could see how inflexible my joints are.

Yes, that sounds like an awesome plan, my awesome friend! xoxox

Sandy - Thanks for your encouragement. I know you are right about lower carbs keeping my hunger level down. Am slipping up on some of the good habits I once had - like distinguishing the difference between being hungry and being bored. BTW - Hope you are feeling better!

Ruth - now if I can just stick with it. How badly do I want it?

So glad you got your mojo spirit back! Just having a plan helps lift the mood so much.

GG - I seem to have plenty of mojo because I am desperate. I either have to lose weight or buy a new winter wardrobe. Although I guess there are other choices, like quit my job and hang around the house in sweatpants all day - this has been considered!

You seem to be doing everything right. You should be losing. Have you ever been tested for hypothyroidism? That's one of the things that held me back from losing for many years. Not to worry if you can't get your knees to touch the bed. Just let your legs work with gravity to bring them down. And there is the possibility they won't. Some people are more flexible. But it's a good exercise to help with cramping.

ClassicRocker - I get tested every year. My thyroid is producing on the low side of normal, but not anything where meds would be called for. I am just one of those lucky people who burn calories very efficiently. You'd think I'd save a bundle on groceries!

Oh Buffy, I'm sorry. Those pounds are stubborn! In the end you'll win!

Buffy...I daydream about not having to work too, but that usually is part of the I won the lottery day dream!
