DairyKing's Journal, 28 August 2013

My ticker went orange today. I was beginning to wonder if I would ever see that again. I've been doing really well keeping my calories around or under my RDI. Last night, I began Stage 3 of my Walk-to-run program. I am now running 5 min @ 5mph and walking 2.5 min @ 3.0 mph and repeating that 5X, with a warmup and cooldown at 3.0 mph. That about done me in. It was 96 yesterday with a heat index of 106. I only have air conditioning in the bedroom of the schoolhouse, and the treadmill isn't there. It wasn't that bad with the fan blowing on me, but I still sweat buckets. There isn't going to be any relief from this heat here until Monday. Oh well, I still think it beats freezing here in the office.

There is only 3 of us here from my team today. The plant is shut down for a week and most are on layoff. We are taking 2 weeks of temporary layoff as a cost-cutting measure, and I have already taken mine. I'd take more but they won't let me. I can take vacation or personal days, and I'm taking 2 of those tomorrow and Friday. Gonna have me a loooong
weekend. Anyway, one of my team members (who happens to be a hard core diabetic) ordered 3 large pizzas with everything on them, for the three of us. I'm doing great. I know sabotage when I see it! 1.5 hours and counting. This is going to be tough. Anybody that has been following me for any length of time knows that pizza is my nemesis. What other food has so many calories, tastes so good, and you can eat it hot or cold?

I know this is the never ending story, but I really do plan on working on kitchen cabinets and other things in the kitchen this weekend. I'm not making excuses (well, I'm sort of not making excuses) but DW always makes plans for me when I plan to actually get them done. Like going with her to the doctor, taking the dogs to the vet, planting something, fixing something, going to a dinner, or just about anything else that could possibly interfere with my motivation or the actual task. And to be quite honest, sometimes it's not all that hard to detract me from my appointed duties. I don't work for the Post Office, after all.

Did some target practice yesterday evening. I can still make lots of noise and hit the target. Felt good to just be out and destroying something - even if it is just a piece of paper with circles on it. The bats get all confused; I guess the loud bangs interfere with their sonar. That's what they get for crapping all over everything in the gym.

BTW: I did post a new topic "Why Aerobics?" out in the "Moderation Motivation" Group Forum. It's more to do with weight loss than anything else, but you might want to take a look at it and let me know what you think.

Well, I need to get back to work. I don't know why. I guess it has something to do with the fact that I'm getting paid to be here. Toodles!

Relationships are a lot like Algebra . . . Ever looked at your X and wondered Y?

hahaha. Hearing my 32 year old son complaining about his father surely makes me look at my X and wonder Y! I can't make it to 5 minutes yet but a good 3 minutes for my C25K job/walk. Good job on your exercise and food goals.

Wow, high temps! Hey DK. Orange again! Woohoo. Congrats, my friend on the weight loss and the pizza resisting. Just brilliant. Wow on the long weekend. I guess that's not a good thing, but it IS a good thing. Truck fixing time. Haha on the X and Y joke. Ever the comedian. Have a great rest of your day.
