Wow!
I ran today for 8 kilometers without stopping! I was pretty impressed with myself, and I am sure I could have run even farther too but I knew that I would be going for a walk later tonight with my honey so I stopped. I didn't want to overdo it:)
I feel so energized today-like nothing could stop me if I really put my nose to the grind outdoors. It felt so good to run like that, and I have forgotten about the physical benefits of running outdoors. Sometimes, I get so caught up with the gym, I forget that the world's biggest gym is really out my front door!
Beleive me, I never used to be a runner. I used to groan whenever anyone would suggest running to me. I would make up all kinds of excuses as to why I couldn't run. Things like "my knees hurt too bad for that", or "My back will kill me!", etc etc etc.
Until one day, about 15 months ago, when I was powerwalking as fast as my legs could carry me, I broke out into a light jog. I just FELT like running. I can't explain it, but it was almost as though there was an angel on my shoulder whispering in my ear saying, "It's okay now, you have come a long way to turn back to your old sedentary lifestyle, and you are already walking so fast, why not run?"
So I did, and I haven't looked back either.
This summer, however, I haven't really been doing much running outdoors. I mainly kept to the gym on really hot days, and when the days were cooler, I had an excuse not to run...it was always something. Now that I have gone for a 40 minute run and realized I can STILL do it, I think I am going to do it more-at least until the snow begins to fly....that's pretty much a death sentence to all runners....snow....lol.
