Our few lovely days of spring are over.
There's a cold front moving through this afternoon bringing rain and possible snow! This year, I feel like I'm living in New England. Things are just now starting to green up. Last year I had well advanced tomato plants by now. Hmm.
I went to a lovely event on Saturday, a cooks' guild symposium. I learned to make cheese. OMG! Nothing so simple. Milk and vinegar. Who knew?!!! You can season it with anything you like and it takes only the time to heat the milk and drain the whey. I had a good visit with good friends. It was cool and rainy, but there was an 18' fire pit in the center of the room, so we were warm and toasty.
I had another surprise over the week-end. My new little, great granddaughter was born. She was a whole 4 lbs, 8 oz! I've never held such a tiny baby. She's beautiful, healthy, breathing and eating on her own and ready to come home. What a doll!
I'm going to "Crown Tourney" this week-end just west of St. Louis. They're calling for very cold, rainy weather and it's a camping event. I'm thinking I'm getting too old and frail for this kind of event. It's hard to miss Crown though. This is the event where our new King and Queen are chosen. I know. What's an old lady playing these silly games for. Well, the people involved are wonderful, imaginative, supportive friends, all interested in the arts and crafts I love to do. We just get dressed up in funny clothes and play make-believe while we are at it. I choose this over puzzles and bingo at a senior citizen center. LOL!
I'm off to weave. I'll post pictures of the finished piece when I get there. The type of pattern I'm doing at the moment is a bit time intensive, so it may be awhile.
I am thankful for:many good friends and a social life at my age.
the ability to still do my thing.
a warm house in this cold, dreary weather.
holding firm on my weight, if not losing.
audio books to keep me company while I work.
my lovely buddies here on FatSecret.
