BuffyBear's Journal, 24 April 2013

Am trying to install a sense of urgency in myself. In less than 5 weeks I'll be going to a family reunion and then returning home for my wedding anniversary.

I've been hanging at 158 for 3 days in a row. Time to step it up a notch!

Bren - Yes that does sound like a familiar cycle.

Yes, my friend, just take it one day at a time & the rest will take care of itself!

Buffy - If I can step in here and make a suggestion. I assume because of your job and the little time you have, you probably don't exercise much if at all? I'm also assuming you sit all day at your job as well? If that is the case then sticking to your diet precisely is absolutely critical. You have done a great job at losing so far. Don't fall victim to incorrect thinking or too many oatmeal cookies. Take it one day at a time and think about what you are eating. Sometimes I put something in my mouth (sweets) and start to chew and think "what am I doing" I then spit it out. I'm not sick in the head, just catching myself being mindless for a minute and correcting. We sabotage ourselves. Try to incorporate some form of exercise daily even if it is just walking for 30 minutes and "stick to the plan". I think you need to eat at about 75% of your RDI and only eat good foods. I do believe if you do this for five weeks you will see a dramatic improvement in weight loss. And when you get to that family reunion and everyone compliments you on how wonderful you look. Thank them, Smile inside and out, And refuse desert..... ----- :-) ----- God bless -J

Ruth - You are so right - we can only do one day at a time, and even then plans will change minute by minute. Glad to hear you are doing so well.

Deadcenter - You've got that right - I am supposed to get an hour lunch so I can take a 40 minute walk in the park. But lately I'm not getting my lunch hour and working an hour overtime as well. Company is supposed to hire help but so far that has not happened! But instead of using that as an excuse I need to find other times to exercise.

Marty - Thanks. Time to get off that couch!

Oh I hear ya girl! I have been hovering like a bad UFO at my current weight which is only a few pounds less than you. It is weird, when I have something like a reunion, set a goal to lose weight, I usually gain HAHA. I tend to lose when there is no pressure, GO FIGURE!

Lizzy - I've done that too - we are our own worst enemies!

Buffy, you know I sympathize with your insane work schedule. You can't control your boss and whether or not he hires extra people....or when.....but you don't have to give him (or your work) control over your WOE. Every time you don't eat what you've planned and decided would be best for you, you're handing over that control. Your boss doesn't deserve that control!!! (And your boss deserves to be reprimanded for not allowing you a lunch break, as well.) But whatever happens at work, you are still doing an awesome job, having accomplished the weight loss you have! You deserve to be in control....and you can STAY in control!!! I have every confidence you'll harness your mental mojo to fight on through these tougher times. You can do this, BuffyBear!

Yeah...what Sandy said...you are in charge of you. You have been coping with a very stressful schedule lately & that is tough. BUT, there is Nothing wrong with saying what you need to do that's best for you. Nobody else is going to do that for you better than you can! With all you do for everybody else's benefit, don't forget about you!
