Friday:
Food points were pretty good all through the day. My friend came over in the evening to show me some moves with the resistance band and weights combined. I felt some of it is better with free weights (e.g., biceps, triceps, chest) and others are better with the band as it really works those muscles (e.g., shoulders, squats for legs etc.). We went over all the types and practiced a bit until I was confident of the form, position etc. She also went over my free-weights' training to see if my form was right, and gave me some good tips. Mostly, I've been on the right track so it's reassuring. However, I don't uncerstand why I haven't developed good muscle definition even after almost 5 months of doing these weights (Admitedly, not as regularly as her!). She, on the other hand, has some serious guns, great shoulders, flat abs---and she's a mom of a teenage daughter!!! My urban-dictionary taught me today that women like her are called "MILF"!! LOL!

So it wasn't much of a workout yesterday, but we were productive so that's good. We decided to hang out at my place and watch a movie, and I made us dinner--mostly healthy (Spinach salad with tomatoes and mandarin orange with olive oil and some parmesan), but also more carbs than I wanted (I made a Vietnamese noodle stir fry)--She loved it all, and had thankfully more noodles than I did, and there were NO leftovers, so that was good! For dessert, I put out some chocolate--but resisted the temptation of having any myself!

The movie was hilarious--and I HIGHLY recommend it--a British flick called "Death at a funeral". Fun evening, and we both resisted the temptation of opening a bottle of wine or going out to a bar or something. I wanted to avoid temptations, and she was even stronger than I--she didn't want to drink anything as she had TWO spin classes the next day!! [man, people who exercise regularly are such FREAKS! And well, someday I hope to be like them!! :))

Well, I did practice some of the weight-lifting AFTER she left, which was about midnight or so!

Summary: Exercise: only 20 mins or so
Meals: More or less within points; only afraid that there was more carbs that I'd have liked to see..

Saturday:
Fearing worse, hoping for better, I stepped on the scale this morning and saw it was steady--no up, no down. So, yesterday's carbs or lack of exercise didn't hurt me much.

Today was quite busy, and I guess I didn't plan it as well as I should have. As a result, I did manage to run some errands, but didn't complete my full list: Went to Trader Joe's and picked up a lot of my groceris, but wasn't impressed with their produce or herbs so still need to go to the big farmers' market to replenish my week's supply of produce. Went to Dick's sporting goods and tried out many types of running shoes--but couldn't find good reviews on them, so I guess I'd have to order something online--but atleast I have a good idea of what I want. I also scoped out some other stores, including my favorite "World market"--I found these cool, designer water bottles--paid 9 bucks for 4 little bottles of water--for the coolness factor alone!! Coolness= water bottles that look like perfume or alcohol bottles!! (Anyone seen these VIOS & Ty Nant water bottles? They are funky!). BTW, speaking of over-priced water, do you know "Evian" spelled backward is "NAIVE"?! No wonder!!

Other than that shopping expedition, I still have part of my groceries to buy elsewhere, AND I ran out of time so I cou;dn't work out. (It's annoying that to complete my list of grocies I have to visit like 5 places! The local grocery store, the local health-food store, Trader Joe's, the local farmers' market, and the chinese store in china town!!). AND they're all in different directions!Ah well!

After coming home from my errands, I quickly got ready to go out, and had a quick high-protein "dinner" of left over lentil soup and a veggie burger. Oh, and also, earlier while I was shopping, I avoided a lot of temptations while food-shopping, and in preparation of possible cravings, I'd packed a little bag of almonds and a little lunch box of my tofu stir-fry to eat for lunch or to snack on in between the shopping...

In the evening, we had tickets to an Improv comedy show (a different location this time--and the comedians were a complete riot!) Very risque too, but the jam-packed theatre was doubling up in laughter. A good time was had by all :) I made the supreme effort of avoiding ANY alchohol, including those divine espresso martinis, chocolate martinis, or peartinis...I even refrained from looking at any of the decadent food--the gourmet pizza looked great there. I ordered a bottle of water and a glass of diet pepsi and nursed it through the evening--and that was totally fine.

After the show, everyone wanted to go dancing, but before that, to go and hang out at a wine bar. I finally gave in and had two glasses of wine there (most of them went dancing, but my friend and I caught up, njoyed our drinks, did some people watching, and just hung out at the swanky wine bar until we realized it was almost 2 am!!

After coming home, I was peckish, so had a few thin multigrain crackers and the basil bean dip and some smoked almonds.

This late-night snacking and the two glasses of wine are going to be bad news on the scale tomorrow--I know it--especially since I didn't work out today. But, I'm chalking it up to a Saturday-splurge and moving on to Sunday--where I'll be back to being good as gold, working out early and longer, and doing my running, weights, etc. Tomorrow I'll start my "Slim-in-6" exercise dvds, and that should really do some serious redeeming of today.

P.S: I had done well all day except this last bit; my points were at 21.5 BEFORE the wine, and this late night snack--which should add another 10 points or so!!

Ok, so the rest of the week will have to be AT my points--no more going-0ver the points if I want to see a result.

BTW, this week I've lost a net of 2.2 pounds, but a gross of 5.3 pds!! (Recall, I'd suddenly gained 3.2 pds from last weekend, which I managed to lose by Tuesday). So, I know if I ramp up the exercie to at leaast 350 mins a week (and to a 90 mins per day), AND eat meals just at the allocated points, I should be able to consistenly lose weight---the results seem to be showing that clearly.

Ok, it's 3 am, so off to bed.

Lol, it's good to see that I'm not the only one that exercises in the twilight zone! ;o) Now is that madness or dedication? I guess either way, it can only be good! Hope you had fun with your resistance band, it's quite intriguing the number of exercises that you can actually do with them. With our exercise "focus", I'm going to incorporate some resistant band dvd workouts back into my exercise routine. I'll add to a journal entry, but just to report that I did 4 sections in all from my two 10 minute solution dvds. Lol - if you could have seen me doing the Pilates for Flexibility you would have been in hysterics! Will keep working on the Pilates for Abs as at the moment I CAN'T do the last exercise!! You keep up the fantastic work though, as you're doing so great. Saturday's little binge could well do you a favour if you keep quite low today. Have a great rest of your weekend! ;o)

Busy girl! It sounds like you made a lot of good choices and resisted lots of temptations while being out and about. Good job:) And I think your midnight extra weights workout counts as a Saturday workout ;) LOL at "MILF". The first time I saw that was on a guy's t-shirt at a rock festival I attended several years ago. I had no idea what it meant but my friend clued me in :D Oh, boy. Good luck starting your new set of exercise dvd's. I hope they give you great results!

Good lord! Am I thinking of a different MILF than you girls?? I was once harassed by a guy even though I told him I was married with kids and he said I was a MILF. When I asked him what it meant..I was horrified at the translation!! is it now just synonmous with being a hot mama? Well done on learning the resistance band moves..can ya teach me? I have a resistance band in the basement but it just looked like an elongated popped balloon so I didnt really use it.
