In the last week, I've continued to stay off-course the workout aspect, and my meals haven't exactly been the most controlled either, and yet, the weird thing is every night I think I'm doomed due to what I ate/drank etc., and every morning, I still see a levelling off to a no-gain zone--so weird!! I should be ecstatic, right? And yet, I am more baffled, and even a little worried--this just doesn't seem right--something's fishy! I guess I'm not LOSING weight, so it's not a big miracle, but this maintenance-zone is a little strange, and doesn't help me understand what my body seems to be responding to! Coz there are many weeks when I've been workign out and eating right, and yet seem to gain weight with even a teensy-weensy cheating here or there---so what accounts for the present "gift" I've been receiving?? And I hope the fat is not just collecting slowly and surely, and will show up in a couple of days as an accumulated gain!! That can't be, can it? Not possible, is it?

In any case, I think today should be pretty much it as far as my regularl work hours are concerned. So starting tomorrow I plan to re-start a regular, good system of working out, and hopeflly that'll offset any potential chance of damage due to the past week.

Ok enough of that...Changing tack...ok, so yeah, yesterday was indeed a date..it was good and nice getting to know this new guy...he sounds interesting--and this has potential ;). Also, thanks to him, I discovered a cool new wine bar!

The evening ended on a strange note---with my car getting a flat-tire, having to call AAA and the tow-truck, and having my date drive me home with the tow-truck/car in tow!! He seemed patient (sorta) through all that, but we'll see if all this car-related drama hasn't "driven" him away! :)

All that drama made me hungry at midnight (and I'd also skipped dinner--I only had wine earlier), and so I came home and got a bunch of snacks that late at night! (edamame, cheese, grapes, etc.)
I was sure I'd gain a lot of weight this morning, but I didn't...so I should be grateful!

Today has been busy getting my car stuff taken care of, cancelling my mornign appointment, and then going to a faculty meeting, a long research meeting, and then just hanging out for a couple of hours in a final semester-venting session with colleagues..I don't have to see any of them for a while now--YAY!! Need to just focus on exercise, getting lots of focused research writing, and catching up with other stuff...(oh, after my grading is completed, of course--there's still that little part left!).

Just chilling tonight...hope to work out earlier tomorrow morning and take care of my home-chores (am presently car-less until tomorrow, so it's going to be a little tough to run errands etc.)

Meals so far:
Breakfast: 1 string cheese? (2)
Lunch: 1 healthy choice manicotti entree with brocolli (5)
Post-lunch: coffee with cream (1)
snack: 1 granola bar (3)
peanuts (1)
Snack: 2 small brownies (6)
Dinner: Drunken noodles with bean curd (10)
post-dinner: grapes (1)
Total points: 29

BTW, here're a couple of comparison pictures:
Before (Jan 08)

Now: After 15 lbs down

I deliberately chose very similar poses etc., for a fair comparison..so, can you tell the difference yet? hmm...

This weight-loss lark is indeed baffling at times! Just take the maintenance and be thankful, but get back on track as soon as you can. Good to hear the date was indeed a Date!! You are a stunning girl - and you can definitely see the difference! Your face has slimmed down quite a bit, and you just look more "glowy". Good luck getting back on the plan! :)

You look so beautiful! Your cheek bones show more prominently now and your jaw line is tight! I'm sorry a tow-truck had to be called in on your pseudo-date, but I'm glad that there is some potential!!! Keep us posted :D

Hee-hee... I loved the sound of "Drunken noodles with bean curd". Is that one you're going to add to the cookbook? ;o) Aw, great to hear you had fun on your "date" and that it appears to have potential... will keep my fingers crossed! You look fantastic and you really can see that your face has slimmed down, so great work so far. As for maintaining... this could be useful for working out your limits. But good luck with getting back on track... work below limits and those scales can only go down! You have a great weekend and look forward to hearing more about that "potential". ;o)

You look so gorgeous!!! I definitely see the difference in your jaw line and your eyes look bigger. It's weird that we lose weight off of our eyelids, but we do! I'm glad you enjoyed your date and think he has "potential". I think the flat tire was a good test of his personality. If he was chivalrous when he barely knows you, it's a good sign. As for the mysterious weight maintenance... no, the weight doesn't accumulate in a dark corner like some ninja army, waiting to pounce on the scale en masse. I think your healthy eating has indeed become habit so you don't even notice the big difference anymore. Plus, the extra muscle you've gained with your workouts burns more calories all day long. I am sure you will see some more progress once you get back on schedule with your exercise.

The pictures are a cool idea. You are looking great! Good luck with stealing time back into your life for exercise. I always fear that when I get off track and lose weight, its because all that hard earned muscle is wasting away... I often find that a week after getting back on track I go up - same deal... So there you go.. motivator to get back to exercising and don't let a little up throw you back off... its all about replacing fat with muscle. I'd rather weigh more and be toned than vice versa... keep up the awesome work.
