Ruhu's Journal, 05 December 2012

Day 7 away... Already! Quicker check in this morning, but should have time to write more this afternoon. Continue to feel strong as we struggle through moms Alzheimer's diagnosis. But a little sick to my stomach this morning -- wondering if it wasn't the sushi last night? Already went to spinning class & off to meet my Midwest friend for breakfast with her Mom (who also has altzheimers). She's then joining my Mom & me tonight for dinner. We've both realized that it's so much easier to have another person along as it somehow makes the repetitive questions/stories more tolerable & even laughable at times.

Mom & I meet with her staff here at the retirement home later this morning to get het set up for altzheimers support & an increased level of care. She had ben fighting this, bur seems to be accepting it, although until shes up today, you never know! Then, she's off to her weekly senior center lunch/card playing afternoon, so I will have some time to myself. Desperately, need to get into her apartment to re-organize, do her laundry, etc. -- Another telltale sign of her disease.

Even in my queasiness, will log, journal, pray & take care of myself for this one day (or meal or minute if needed) at a time!

Yes Ruth you are doing great. I know this isn't easy but I hope you can find some trust and faith in the staff. My grandmother is 96 and had to go into a care fAcility she has dementia setting in. I like to think the good work and caring compassion that my daughter give to her residents will be given to my grandmother.

Thanks all of you for your never ending support! This trip has gone so much more smoothly and healthfully than I'd have ever expected, and more so than others in the recent past, & I owe it all to you who have supported & encouraged me, have given me such helpful advice and always been there for me. Once again, I am so grateful to have found you all & to have you in my life!
