Dr told me today that 1200 kcal was fine for when I drop again as well as 100-140g protein. It’s hard to get to 140! He said anything 100 or over would be good for me any day of the week. He was pleasantly surprised to see that I’ve lost 24# in 5 months. When I said 16 more to go he smiled and said ‘good luck. You could probably do it but it’s going to be tough if you are looking to keep or build muscle.’.

Told him my measurements said 30% BF, scale said 40% and trainer said 26.59%. He said the 26.59% would be the one that’s probably correct. Also no muscle scan for me :/. And no echo. He didn’t think the chemo would cause any problems with exercise until I was much older as long as I kept going slow and didn’t just triple my exercise or anything. I also didn’t tell him what all I was doing though. Nice to be cleared for everything though. Even though I am 5 months late in getting cleared lol. Better late than never!

Oh he also mentioned that his BMI put him in the overweight category! This man is fairly thin. Not a twig but I can’t see any fat on him in his scrubs or when I’ve seen him around town in anything from slacks or jeans to gym shorts! I told him I was 24.9 last I checked and he said that’s good and 26 or so and under is where I should be. Nice to have a dr tell me I’m in a good range now :). Of course he didn’t think I was ‘heavy’ before even though the charts said obese for my short self. Now I’m not so sure that I can get to 120# and keep my muscle or gain more. My dr is a gym enthusiast from what I’ve heard. He plays ball with his son and is generally an active person. So his saying it would be hard for me to get to 120 and maintain/gain muscle makes me rethink. Guess I’ll spend some time thinking on it this weekend. I don’t think it would hurt to diet for a month or two just to see. But I’d hate to lose all my progress muscle wise.

if you really want to build muscle I would focus on that. Your ideal weight is not what seems to be really important to you. I know I really don't have an idea truly what weight I will be at as I have at least 15 pound of fat. that would put me well under my wished list weight. but if I build muscle and lose the fat my perfect weight might be pretty close to where I am right now. Muscle weighs much more than a little fat. So if your goal is build those muscles and you burn that fat, you may be at the perfect weight with those muscles. Just no idea of how much muscle you build to get to your goal. I am eating close to my maintenance calories, around 1430. my exercise will slowly melt the fat and build the muscle. Just my thoughts.

It sounds like you're on the right track! Like Baskington said maybe your weight is good right now to build the muscles, and focusing on building the muscle will make you happier than losing the weight. I always see the stories of people who are a little heavier or the same weight, but they've gained muscle and look leaner than before. If you're working on building the muscle and you're doing all the right things, don't worry too much if you gain a little if you feel good and are happy with your body. Take some photos now and then periodically if you're working on building your muscles, maybe those photos will be worth more than the number on the scale. Good luck!!
