Selbygirl6's Journal, 25 March 2017

It's a cloudy and cool Saturday morning here in AZ. I completed my first day of the Bright Line Eating boot camp and followed it 100%. It didn't feel particularly challenging but I must admit that I am starting to feel worn out physically and mentally by my focus on food/weight/diet. I'm coming up on my 1 year anniversary of this health promoting/weight loss journey and it has taken a toll. My biggest hope is that I can hang in there for the next 8 weeks, get through this boot camp and be at a happier weight at the end of it. I'm ready for my life's focus to be on other pursuits, you know?

I just finished reading The Pleasure Trap by Dr's Doug Lisle and Alan Goldhamer. It's been quite an eye opening, mind expanding read. I would highly recommend it to anyone that has an issue with health or weight. It gives one an evolutionary perspective on why we struggle so much in this century with these problems that is fascinating. I wish you all the best for your weekend my FS friends.

"Your health promoting behavior will cause two types of people a good deal of consternation. And these people will often attempt to relieve their own psychological discomfort by pressuring you to change. These two types are best managed quite differently. We refer to these as the "misinformed" and the "irritated" and you need to be well prepared for both. "- The Pleasure Trap

Hang in there Selbygirl! Finding the balance spend our limited energy amongst all our priorities is challenging--for you and all of us on this journey. Lately, I find reading and devoting time to playing ʻukulele and singing has helped. Mahalo for the book recommendation. Hugs and aloha to you. Mokupuni.

Thanks Mokupuni. It's always a treat to hear from your bright and shiny presence. I'm hanging in there. Since I started the Bright Line Eating boot camp on Friday I find that I'm more hungry and also more tired since I am getting a little less food than I'm accustomed to having. As the founder, Susan Peirce Thompson explained it just yesterday in a video, "the voice in your head that says this is just too tough or you can't possibly keep doing this is really the sound of your deeper brain trying to get you to consume more calories." Defeat is hard wired because, well, no animal is designed to self starve unless it is sick. So I just keep on going. I have been wanting to learn the ukulele but haven't jumped on that one, yet. I want to wait until I get through the boot camp and can focus, or devote more time, to it. Sending you all the best. Mahalo for the support. Hugs and aloha to you, too.
