no running is not an option . i have carried muscle knots in my shoulders/ back half my life , (i'm nearly 70) scoliosis un corrected and 50 years of nursing takes a toll.

My chiropractor always uses the TENS on me before an adjustment. It really gets the knots out so she can move things easier, and it also keeps the muscles from pulling the adjustment out of whack. I also have (mild) scoliosis, and a similar work situation...doing hair for 38 years, lots of standing, arms raised to shoulder level most of the day, etc. I find the TENS to be very beneficial.

I love the TENS unit!! Mine is a generic one off of EBay. It only has two electrodes, if I did it again I would get one with 4. Also, DO NOT use cheap ebay electro pads, buy higher quality pads on Amazon or elsewhere. I have received deep burns with the cheap chineses ones. I suffer from both Spasm type pains and regular use relaxes everything nice and I get the spasims far less often. It also works great on sore muscles. Does little to zip for my arthritis in my neck and shoulder.

Hey K...post-first neck surgery I was prescribed a tens unit. Helped me alot as needed to get back to work and meds could not manage pain to level I needed. Over time it became somewhat ineffective and needed to do more tools. But for about 6 months it was great....was sure to vary intensity, sites of application, times of use. Think my body paid more attention when I shifted it than when I had a schedule. Found it not useful after the second, perhaps as muscle destruction during surgery was much higher...not sure. Still have mine, could probably use once in awhile if I put it in front of me to remind me. Thanks for the post as it provides a nudge to me. Hope it helps as a tool, fyi...meditation, imagery and stretching/yoga have also aided with spasms and nerve problems.

A TENS unit is okay. Go get a good therapeutic massage and get those tense spots to release. Find a chiropractic office that also does massage. They tend to have more knowledge of the neuromuscular system.
